Corona High School - A Tradition of Excellence Since 1896
Greetings, Panther Families!
What a busy week we've had with College Kick-off, PSAT, the first-ever CNUSD College Fair, the Great Shakeout, and now with our Friday Rally and Tailgate leading up to our Blackout Homecoming football game! There is definitely an excitement in the air! We are also wrapping up the first week of the second quarter, which means we are sliding downhill towards the end of the first semester. Don't let your student wait until it's too late to reach out to their teachers with any questions regarding grades or work.
REMINDER: Parents, please take a few minutes to complete our district's technology survey by following this link: www.BByt.es/UM6YP. The purpose of this survey is for CNUSD to determine the best way to support technology implementation at each school site, including Corona High School. As of October 14th, we've had 82 parents complete the survey. With a student population of close to 2,500, we need to have a higher sample. Students and staff are also being asked to take a similar survey. As we move to increase technology access for our students, your input is vital. Thank you for your support.
Proud Principal,
Antonio Gonzalez, Ed.D.

Aviation
Corona High Aviators Take Flight! Five Corona High School Aviators took their first flights on Saturday, October 12th with the EAA Young Eagles at the Flabob Airport (KRIR) in Riverside. Mr. Peterson flew out of Chino Airport early that morning to meet them. Each student got to actually fly the plane for about 20 minutes over Riverside! They received a logbook and some were able to actually log the time toward their Private Pilot Certificate. Students also received access to the Sporty’s online ground school ($200 value) free of charge. Thanks to the members and pilots of EAA Chapter 1 for a great day. One student will fly with Corona Young Eagles tomorrow at Corona Municipal Airport, and others will go fly at Flabob next month!
Engineering
Our Engineering STEMmers have just completed a unit on mechanical advantage. Students participated in a mechanical advantage lab, where they had to calculate the mechanical advantage of different simple machines. They explored levers, pulleys, inclined planes, and wheel and axles. The unit culminated in a project where they were required to design and build a compound machine, made of four simple machines, that could lift a two and a half pound weight up at least two inches with no more than one pound of force.
