Thirty SWEET Years!
Feel Good February is here!
Rachelle and Ummehani
Front row parking is just so fun.
- Rachelle can take TOW (teacher of the week) spot #1
- Ummehani can take TOW (teacher of the week) spot #2
We can't make THIRTY great without each of you!
Reminders
It's time to do a noise level check. Let's LEAP into March with some buttoned up behaviors.
Flexibly working in the halls?
Please make sure you put limits on how flexible and how far away your hallway friends are going. They should at least stay on your hall. :)
Hello & See you Soon
I'm sure you noticed that Amanda hasn't been speeding down the halls on her scooter this week. Amanda is home with both legs (sans cast) propped up while she waits for Baby Boy Bo to arrive. Amanda, we will see you soon (but not too soon).
Please be sure to say "Hello" to Josephine Donnally when she arrives on Monday for her long term stay in 5th grade.

Reminders:
CTT
It's PLC work session. I'm excited to support you in your endeavors to plan the next steps based on your high priority standards identified over the past two weeks.
As always, please make sure that you have updated your agenda at least 24 hours prior to our meetings, otherwise, I will put items that I deem important. mwhaha
PANORAMA- don't forget to update your intervention plans while we are at CTT. We have several plans that are now overdue. Yikes.
Make sure you also review the CTT master schedule as sometimes adjustments do take place. (With Valentine's and a bad weather day, there are some adjustments)
MAP Consultant
The district has coordinated a MAP consultant to visit on March 5th during planning times in C103.
*5th, Maureen and I will have some helpful tips from these sessions to share with you.

QR codes for Open House
As we prepare for Open House in a few weeks, I wanted to share an idea that will allow our learners to showcase their digital portfolios to a wider audience, including their families. Digital portfolio QR code cards are a fantastic way to celebrate student work and engage families with digital portfolios at any time.
Looking for a workflow to get started? Try this! Make a copy of this Canva presentation to help you.
Slides 1-7 are directions for you to set-up
Slides 8-23 are there for you to use with your learners to guide them step-by-step through the process
This process for creating QR Codes as a class will work for other projects too!
As always, reach out if you would like support or if I can help your learners make their QR codes!
Happy creating! 🌟
3rd-5th grade
As your learners draft short answer responses, they can view their word count in Pages and directly in Schoology Assessments. Learn more below!
Pages Document: Click below to watch the tutorial video.
Schoology Assessment: Create a Short Answer/Essay question type within a Schoology Assessment (teal puzzle piece).
iPads are Coming!
The Great iPad Rollout (and return) of 2024 is just around the corner!
Here is what you need to know now
- Date: March 21st
- Time: In the afternoon
- Where: They will be coming to you/your class
- Who: K-5 (PK already has theirs)
- Communication to parents I am sharing the district letter in JtF next week. I have also scheduled a reminder letter in Parent Square to go out on March 18th.
- You will ALSO need to share the district letter/details to your classes.
- The letter includes some specifics that you will find beneficial as well.
Extra Details:
- The iPads will come with new cords and plugs. They won't work with the old cords and plus.
- The new iPads should have a 10 hour battery life.
- The port is a USB-C.
- The headphones you have won't plug into the iPads - Great News...the district has ordered headphones the will work. They also ordered ePens.
- The headphones and ePens will be a part of your inventory and checked out to you. You will want to make sure you create a plan for how to manage them.
- The headphones and ePens WILL NOT go home with kids.
In the meantime:
- If you are not sending the learner iPads home with them you will want to be ready to gather their cords and bricks so they can be returned/exchanged when they come.
- Please add the blurb from next week's JtF to your upcoming newsletters.
- Update and prepare your own iPad for the exchange.
- Think about how you want to manage and store the headphone/ePens.
- Question? Ask. :)

Accommodations Reminder
Are your learners using their accommodations routinely, independently, and effectively? Learners need these scaffolds to support their learning. They are not just for testing.
Lessons from LAS
It is time to submit your third round of monitoring forms for your active Emergent Bilingual learners. You will need to submit the following form for each active EB from your list (this includes parent denials).
Please use this form for the 3rd Nine weeks: Active EB Linguistic Accommodation Form
👏👏👏Thank you to second and fourth grade teachers who were the first teams to complete all their forms and earned a prize!
One week of TELPAS testing down, one more to go! Thank you for your support with keeping our learners quiet as we pass through B hall!
Guidance from Guidance
Please continue working on Second Step if you have not completed it yet.
Guidance next week will be in your classrooms.
It's time to decide on your Citizens of Character for the 3rd 9 weeks for the character trait Respect!
Please put your learner's name in the appropriate box in the spreadsheet by the end of the day next Thursday, February 29.
Blurbs for why that learner was chosen need to be input by the end of the day Wednesday, March 6.
If you want to see the historic data of who has been selected before, you can find that here.
