Hello Panther Families!

Since late October, the sounds of the season have been echoing through the halls of our music department as the bands, choirs and orchestras prepare for their winter concerts. All three groups are hard at work and making great music which we are excited to share with you in December.

As always, it is our pleasure to serve you, the music families of Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate & Junior High. We wish you a safe and happy Holiday Season, and we look forward to seeing you at our concerts this next month!

The Music Department Fundraiser continues! We are trying to avoid a traditional fundraiser this year by asking for donations from our Panther Music families. 100% of the money raised will go directly to music, clinicians, choreographers, instrument repairs, accessories and other things that help create positive experiences for our music students.

Your support is needed and appreciated! At the time of this newsletter's creation, we are sitting at about $1000 for the department. Our goal to raise $5000 as a department. Please consider donating to our wonderful music students if you haven't already done so. Forms are available from any director or on Blackboard. Thanks!

Holiday Choir (7/8) Concert Updates

HIJH 7/8th grade Choirs:

Dress Rehearsal- Friday, Dec. 11, 3-4 @ HIJH Panther Hall

Holiday Concert- Monday, December 14- Panther Hall

6pm- students arrive at 5:30.

*There is no admission cost for any JR. High Show. Our No-Sell fundraiser will accept donations at both Holiday Shows.

Music Department Fundraiser The music department is accepting monetary donations through the month of December as part of our No-Sell fundraiser. Our goal is to raise enough money through donations that we will be able to forgo the traditional door-to-door fundraiser. You can find a donation form on Blackboard, have your child get one from his/her director or get one at our December concerts. Checks should be made payable to HSIJH and should be turned in to one of the music directors. 100% of the proceeds will go to the music department. Thank you for supporting our student musicians. We all greatly appreciate your help!

8th grade Choirs to sing at HSE High School Holiday Choir Show

8th grade choir, Panther Sound will sing at the HSE Holiday Show on Friday, December 4th. Tickets for the show are SOLD OUT but Mrs. Johnson is looking for a few adult chaperones to accompany the choir. Please email Mrs. Johnson if you are interested.

8th grade choir- Please meet Mrs. Johnson in the lobby of the HSE Auditorium at 6pm on 12/4. We will rehearse and sing during the show which begins at 7pm.

"The Lion King" will ROAR onto the stage of Fall Creek Junior High School this March! Mr. Yoder and Mrs. Johnson are thrilled to announce that our school is one of the first in the United States to be licensed to produce this award-winning musical masterpiece. This production will be open to 7th and 8th Grade students from both HIJH and FCJH.

All auditions, rehearsals and performances will be held at FCJH and HIJH students will need to provide their own transportation.

AUDITION WORKSHOP/CALL-OUT Mtg: Monday, 11/23, 3-4:30 FCJH

AUDITIONS- the week of December 7th & call backs on Dec. 16.

Rehearsals begin in January. Show dates are: 3/11-3/12/16

Pep Band: The pep band will perform at two home basketball games in December. The dates are Tuesday, December 1 and Thursday, December 10. Report time for warm-up is 5pm. We will stay for both the A and B games. Rides home should be here at the end of the second game at 8:30pm. Students should wear pep band shirts and jeans. Join us for the fun and excitement as we cheer on our Panther Teams!

Winter Band Concert: The winter band concert will be on Wednesday, December 16. This concert will include ALL of our 6th grade – 8th grade bands. Report time for warm-up is 6:30pm. The uniform is black dress pants, black dress shoes, black socks and the band shirt. The concert will begin at 7pm in the HSIJH main gym.

Congratulations to Nicole Morett, Aaron Kuhn and Aakash Jariwala who participated in the Indiana American String Teachers Association All-Region Honors Orchestra Festival on November 7th. Here they are pictured with their colleagues from Fall Creek Junior High and their guest conductor, Mr. Kyle Miller. A great time was had by all!

Winter Orchestra Concert:

The Winter Orchestra Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 9th. We are excited to share our hard work and sounds of the season with you! This concert will also feature the first performance from our 6th Grade Orchestra.

Students should arrive at HIJH in their uniforms promptly at 6:15pm. The concert begins at 7pm. See you there!
