Second Semester Notes from the Principals:
Welcome back! We are excited to kick off the New Year with your kiddos. Your child has made tremendous improvements throughout the year and we plan to continue to make a push to prepare your student for the following grade. If you are the parent of a 6th grader please continue to preach responsibility and independence. At this point, 6th graders should be able to check their own grades, email teachers to get help, and be aware of what is due and when to get things turned in. The first semester has a lot of teachers reminding kids to go to tutoring, lunch study hall, etc, this semester, 6th graders should be able to look at what is missing and get it done. Parents of 7th graders: it's what is expected of a 6th grader plus expecting students to reach out to teachers if they are absent or expect to be absent and getting the work that is missed. It's also reminding them that each night they need to review their notes and practice vocabulary. 7th graders should also be on the ball with managing their Google Calendars and putting in reminders on when projects are due and upcoming events. Finally on to 8th graders. You may notice your 8th graders get a version of senioritis second semester. Some feel they are well on their way to high school and can check out this semester. It's quite the opposite so please keep on your 8th grader that this is the last semester to prepare before high school. When your student gets to high school, every grade should be viewed as dollar bills your student can earn. Every good grade in high school can go towards scholarship money or a better job right out of high school. We want to prepare your child for high school and the workforce and this last semester is a chance to really instill those habits that will help lead to a successful life.
Please also encourage your child to get involved this semester. We have boys basketball, swimming (6-8th grade), soccer (7th and 8th grade), and track (6-8th grade) for boys and girls. We also have several activities this semester including fly fishing/archery club, gaming club, art club, and much more. We are looking forward to a great semester!
