JSE Tracks

Welcome to the first full week of school for the year! Woohoo! The first week was a great success and we were all so happy to see everyone back from the summer.

Each week I will have a newsletter of events for the week and beyond, pictures of what we did the previous week, and other important information. You can always find the newsletters on our website linked at the end of the newsletter.

Don't forget that this week is grades 2-5 Open House from 6-7pm. PTO will also be here passing out ice cream and selling spirit wear.

Mrs. Hankins

Miss G attends PNW and is doing her student teaching with us at JSE this semester. She will be in Mrs. Koch's kindergarten class and then with Mrs. Greanias now through December. Miss G did her methods classes a few days a week with Mrs. Koch last year. We are happy to have her back!

Mrs. Van Aspren is our Technology teacher at both JSE and UCE. She is also coaching Volleyball for UTMS too. She is excited about blending technology and STEM activities with our students once a week during specials. We are lucky to have her passion and understanding for kids and learning!

Last year's 4th grade/ this year's 5th grade students created these patches for a welcoming bulletin board!

Thank you to the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department for coming for our first fire drill of the school year! We appreciate our volunteer firemen and SROs that help keep our schools safe. It was a great first drill, and all of the students exited quickly, safely, and quietly. Way to go!

We are CHAMPS at learning and behaving at JSE! CHAMPS helps us navigate our daily activities safely and successfully.

C- Conversation: how loud can we be during the activity?

H- Help: who do I ask, and how do I ask for help?

A- Activity: what am I expected to do?

M- Movement: how much can I move and where can I go during this activity?

P- Participation: how do I participate? with a partner, on my own? what's my role?

S- Success!: if we do all of the above, we will be successful!

You might see these phrases throughout our school and in our classrooms. Our voice levels are a 0 (whisper) through a 4 (outside voice) to help navigate how we are engaging throughout the day.

Get involved with PTO! We have a great group of family volunteers that do so much for our school. We could not do many of the amazing things we do for students without their support.

Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm at the JSE Library. You may bring your children too.

WHS announces UTSC students (K-12) get in FREE to all high school athletic events when they show their student ID at the gate or wear bearcat colors.
