Corron Mission Statement
From the Principal
Corron Families:
This has been an amazing first week for our staff and students! While starting with a 5 day week seemed like a lot at the beginning of the year, students have had multiple days to practice routines and get back into the swing of things at school. This will help us jump right back in on Monday.
Thank you to our families for reading the school communications and reviewing routines that were sent out. We’ve added a few more topics to this communication. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or need clarification. We are here to work together as a team to ensure students are safe and able to learn.
Enjoy your weekend!

Arrival and dismissal procedures
Daily Arrival: Students will be able to enter the building through 2 locations this year. These locations are the front door (#1) and the door by the back playground (#8). Families can choose the drop off location that works best for them. Students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:45 and will head down to their classrooms at that point. There will be adult assistance for the first few weeks for students who need help finding their way.
- Front parking lot: this will continue to be a drive up area where parents remain in their cars and drop students off in the unloading zone. Students can exit the car from the passenger side only in the areas that have a yellow painted curb. There will be staff members present each day to help move traffic along. The bus circle is reserved for buses only.
- If you prefer to walk your child up, please park in the lot and walk your child through the crosswalk. A staff member will stop traffic to allow you to cross. Please do not cross in other areas of the parking lot for safety reasons.
- Back of building: Parents are allowed to park in the Park District lot and walk their child to the sidewalk. There is no drive up lane to drop and go, as this causes unsafe conditions.
Daily Pick Up: Our Kindergarten classes will be exiting at the front of the building (door 1). First grade classes can exit door 1 or door 8 (back of the school) only. All other grade levels will have a choice of exiting through doors 8 or 23 (south side by the field). Your child’s teacher may send a specific dismissal door for their class based on their location. Parents can meet their children near any of these areas. For our K-2 students, please let your child’s teacher know how your child will be getting home and/or who will be picking them up. If you need to change your child’s plans for dismissal, please email the teacher and then call the office so we can ensure that we know about the change.
Pick up is at 3:00 - there is no after-school supervision provided once dismissal ends.
Please note that there are no dogs allowed on school property during drop-off or pick up.

Open House
Again this year all D303 elementary schools will be hosting an Open House for families. Corron’s event will be held on Tuesday, September 12th. Parents and students will be invited in to tour the school and see their classrooms. The event will be held in the evening, with families with last name’s A-L coming from 6:00 - 6:30 and M-Z coming from 6:45 - 7:15. Our staff will share more information as the date approaches.
Smartwatches and Phones
Technology can be a wonderful way to keep in touch with family members. However, smartwatches and phones can become quite disruptive to the learning environment when parents are contacting their children throughout the day (and vice versa). The Elementary Student Handbook contains the following language:
Students are extended the privilege of possessing phones/smartwatches on school grounds;
however, their use is limited to after-school dismissal and non-school days. These devices must be in the off position, or not used once the student arrives on campus until the end of the school day.
Teachers will be requesting that students leave their watches and phones in backpacks or another class designated place each day when they enter the classroom so that learning can continue uninterrupted.
Lunch Deliveries
Please refrain from delivering lunches to school for your child unless it is an emergency situation. Our office is busy throughout the day with students coming in, staff needs and phone calls. It can be challenging to keep up with answering the door to collect lunches as well. Thank you!!
