The end of our first grading cycle is this Friday, September 23rd. This means all missing/late assignments must be turned in by Friday to be included. Please check Parent Portal and reach out to your child's teacher(s) if you have any questions.

The end of the cycle also signals our first Snack Attack of the year. 4th grade will have snacks and drinks on sale for $1.00. A snack cart will be brought around to each classroom for snacks to be purchased. This fundraiser helps our 4th grade class be able to go to San Antonio/Austin for an epic educational field trip in the spring! Please send cash for your child to buy snacks.

TeSA is proud to partner with HeyTutor to offer FREE online tutoring after school. Tutoring sessions are 1:1 with Texas-trained tutors, background-checked and vetted through both TeSA and HeyTutor. Students may sign up for Reading and/or Math tutoring in 30 minute sessions between 4:30-8:30 p.m. The directions to register are linked below, and you must sign up with your child's school email (firstname.lastname@mytcaa.org) and password. If your student does not know the password, email betsy.compton@mytesa.org to request a password reset.

Tuesday, September 27th will be our TeSA Picture Day! In addition to individual pictures, all homeroom classes will take a picture together. The pictures will be featured in our 2022-2023 TeSA Yearbook, which will be available to purchase later in the year.

Thank you for planning ahead for your child to wear his/her favorite TeSA uniform pieces. All students should be in full uniform compliance and remove all outerwear for the photos.

Did you know that charter school laws vary from state to state? The Texas Public Charter School Association has put together resources to help everyone understand how charter schools work in Texas. This VIDEO is just under 2 minutes and does a great job explaining the basics.

The academic calendar shows the beginning and ending of each grading cycle in blue. You can expect to see Progress Reports in the 3rd week of the cycle and Report Cards the week after the cycle ends. Be sure to also note school holidays in yellow and staff development days in grey. The academic calendar is approved by the Board and will not change unless there is extreme weather or state-mandated closures.

The TeSA Activity Calendar is a fluid document and may change throughout the year. It contains state-mandated days, such as STAAR testing, and also locally-developed days like Howdy Week. Please reference the TeSA Activity Calendar to save the dates for all of our performances and major events.

All K-5th grade students are expected to have a pair of headphones to use at school. Headphones are used to hear educational programs on iPads/Chromebooks, and sometimes also just to block out other noises. Students may bring any style they like, and we highly recommend labeling your child's headphones before sending them to school!

Grade-Level Newsletters are housed on the Grade-Level Websites. Although you may get a message reminding you to view the newsletter, you can always go directly to the website to view it, along with other grade-specific information.

Email is the best method to reach any teacher or administrator. All emails are set up as firstname.lastname@mytesa.org. They are also linked on the TeSA website.

Phone calls are great for quick questions or alerts. You can reach Ms. Tammy at 817-732-8372. Phone calls for teachers and administrators should be scheduled in advance.

The office is open 7:45-4:00. Come on in during those hours to drop off paperwork or student items. Meetings with teachers and administrators should be schedule in advance.

TeSA is proud to partner with Girls on the Run to host a running club after-school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for our 3rd-5th grade girls. Please read the message from their Program Director, Ms. Amy Taylor, below and reach out to them directly with any questions.

Every girl’s relationship and reaction to the words “back to school” is different. To some, the sound of those three words is simply musical, and the vision of new textbooks, smell of freshly sharpened pencils, and sound of busy classrooms is a welcome return. For others, “back to school” rings a slightly different tune — one that is perhaps more stress-inducing than it is exciting. Regardless of where your girl falls on the scale, one thing remains consistent; a strong start is EVERYTHING. How we initiate an experience is extremely telling of how we will conclude it. How do we enter this next chapter full of courage, self-assurance and optimism? At Girls on the Run, we choose confidence.

Girls on the Run is an afterschool program like no other! Twice per week for 10 weeks, girls will have fun, make friends, increase their physical activity levels and learn important life skills. Trained and caring coaches lead 3rd - 5th grade girls through interactive lessons and movement activities. The season ends with a celebratory 5K event.

All students are expected to attend school every day. If your child must be absent for any reason, please email your homeroom teacher and tammy.smith@mytesa.org. If the absence is due to any symptoms that could be contagious, your child may attend Remote Conferencing to complete schoolwork and earn daily attendance. Assignments will be accessed through Google Classroom, and some online academic programs may also be utilized as needed. ONLY students with parent/doctor documentation of contagious symptoms may participate.
