Congratulations to our students, parents, and staff for earning recognition as an #ESEADistinguishedSchool! Mora Elementary is 1 of only 100 schools to receive this honor.

The Minnesota Department of Education took notice of Mora Elementary School and nominated MES for this award. Each state has the opportunity to nominate two schools to receive the honor of Distinguished School.

Mora Elementary's award category was for excellence in serving special populations of students such as the homeless, migrants, English learners, etc.

To qualify a school must meet the following criteria:

Poverty rate of over 35%,
Demonstrated high academic achievement.
Meet or exceed state standards for adequate yearly progress.

Mora Elementary managed to rebound in its MCA test scores to near pre-pandemic levels in science and reading and actually exceeded our 2019 math results. What is most amazing is that we are the first Minnesota school to actually receive this honor in the past ten years.
