The Highly Original Thinkers (H.O.T.) Chess Academy under the direction of National Master Justin Gardner started Fall classes at THRS on September 9th. Classes are for students in kindergarten through 5th grade from beginner to advanced levels. There are a few spots left! PSIA is an extracurricular academic competition program for students in grades 1 – 8. With 19 competition categories, it allows students to excel in a variety of content areas. Statistical research shows that students who participate in academic competitions and activities score higher on achievement and assessment tests than those who do not participate. There's lots of fun in store for Thursday Sept 22nd!

Parents, kick off your day with a Coffee Social in the Dining Hall from 8:00-9:00. Come meet the Partners Board, find out more about upcoming events and mix 'n mingle with other parents!

That afternoon, the students will be excited about the year's first FFF (Fun Food Friday, a day earlier than usual to accommodate the next day's holiday!) We will offer Gourmet Popcorn to K-8th students, who will select from three flavors: Plain, Cheese or Caramel. Our ECP students will enjoy yummy pretzels! Parents, please notify your child's teacher If there are known allergies.

Finally, remember that the last day to Grant-a-Wish for your child's teacher is September 30th. Stop by the classroom to see what wishes are still available!
