The Michigan Department of Education, MAISA, and GELN Early Literacy Task Force are excited to offer a K-3 Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy Institute September 24-27, 2018. This 4 day institute offers deeper learning around the K-3 Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy and is intended for individuals or district teams made up of Literacy Coaches, Lead Teachers, Special Education Directors, English Learner Practitioners and Leaders, Building Administrators, Curriculum Directors, and Superintendents. Teams will be provided the content and resources needed to lead literacy work and professional learning around the K-3 Instructional Essentials in their regions. The financial investment for the district will be $120 total per participant for all 4 days. If traveling 50+ miles one way and attending in Grand Rapids, your registration fee includes your hotel. In order to help schools plan for this professional learning, districts should consider using Title I, Part A, Title II, Part A or Section 31a for substitute costs and stipends for educators attending. A portion of 35a Additional Instructional Time Grant funding can also be used for professional learning.
