CPS Summer School Information
The Cabot School District is offering summer school June 1- 28 for those students who failed the following subjects: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, World History, American History Civics, Economics, Arkansas History and all levels of English 9-12. Each class is worth 1/2 credit. Classes are $150.00 each, and students can take up to two classes. Students can take PE and Health without having failed them first. Student will often choose to do this to make room in their school schedule for other classes. Heath and PE are $50.00 each. Summer School information can be found in the CHS Counseling Center.

Information for CHS Seniors- Top 10 Announcements
1. NOW!
Seniors should be applying for colleges, scholarships, vocational programs, meeting with recruiters and/or making plans for life after graduation now. Seniors are advised to be aware of application requirements and deadlines as each institution has their own specific entrance qualifications. Students can make a written request for transcripts in the CHS Counseling Center.
2. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now available to students at the link below. All Seniors applying for college must complete the FAFSA for consideration for federal aid. This application must also be completed as part of the Arkansas Academic Challenge (Lottery Scholarship) application. For help The website is www.fafsa.gov
3. Arkansas Lottery Scholarship- IMPORTANT!
Students who applied for the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship should log onto his/her application to determine the status. If there is a status of Eligibility Pending, then there is an issue with the application which needs to be resolved. If the status is Pending Acceptance, this means the scholarship needs to be formally accepted. Failure to accept a scholarship could results in loosing it. Students should check their personal and school email for the information. As previously advised, Seniors should be using a personal email account since the school email will not be accessible after this school year. College students will also need to continue to check their personal email account throughout the next four years for renewal information. Failure to resolve these issues could result in a loss of the four year, $14,000.00 scholarship.
4. CHS Senior Rankings
This information is available in the CHS Counseling Center. The seniors will be ranked one last time in May after the second semester's grades are final and before the graduation ceremony.
5. Academic Medallions
An academic medallion is one of the highest academic awards given to Cabot students. In order to earn a medallion students must have earned a 3.5 or better GPA each and every semester of high school and not received any C's.
The list of academic medallion recipients is on the front wall by the office. Please stop by to make sure your name is on the list if you are expecting to receive medallion.

6. Cap and Gown
Jostens was here on March 9th to deliver caps/gowns, invitations, etc. If you did not get yours stop by room 1115 to pick up your graduation regalia.
7. Scholarships

8. Final Transcripts
Most colleges, universities and vocational schools require a final 8 semester transcript that includes the gradation date from high school. Students can fill a out transcript request at any time asking for it to be sent to the institution of his/her choice after May 20th. Transcript request are $1.00 a piece. Students should also consider signing the bottom of the transcript request to allow a parent/guardian to come in at a later time and request transcripts if needed. This is very helpful if a student moves away or transfers schools. If a parent/guardian does not have consent to request a transcript, the student is the only one who can access that information.
9. Return your books, pay your fines
Return all textbooks and pay any fines before your last day of school on May 12.
10. Life Impact Diploma forms
Be sure to turn in your Life Impact Diploma forms to Mrs. Southard or Mrs. Weir in the Media Center by Friday, May 12.
Graduation Dress Code Requirements
Students are to wear only caps and gowns approved by CHS administration. Graduation attire is to be worn as it is designed to be worn (caps on top of the head, robes zipped, etc).
No adornments other than school-issued collars, stoles, cords, and medallions are to be worn with caps and gowns. This includes corsages.
Student Attire – In addition to caps and gowns, graduates will wear clothes appropriate for this dignified occasion. Dressy attire is expected. To conform to the dress code, the recommended apparel is as follows:
Girls – Dress, skirt, or dress pants and blouse, dress shoes (black, navy, white, or beige are all acceptable colors), and any hosiery worn should be nude colored. If wearing a dress or skirt, please make sure that the hem is no longer than the hem of your graduation gown. If wearing dress pants please choose a dark solid color (black or navy). Avoid high collared dresses or blouses that would show above the collar of the gown.
Guys – White shirt, dark slacks, dark tie, black or brown shoes and socks
Prohibited Dress Items – athletic shoes, flip-flops, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, athletic apparel, sunglasses, blinking shoes, etc.
CHS Check Out Policy
CHS students will be allowed to check out with a parent/guardian note only. A parent/guardian phone number will need to be included on the checkout note for verification purposes.
***No phone call checkouts will be allowed because of safety concerns.
CHS is a closed campus and we strongly discourage students from checking out at lunch. This typically causes unnecessary tardies and classroom interruptions. If a student is checking out at lunch, a parent/guardian must physically come in and sign the student out and them back in from lunch.
Only a parent/guardian is allowed to drop lunch off for a student. If a parent/guardian is dropping off lunch for a student, there will be a table (outside the office) with a sharpie for the students name to be written on it. Students should know in advance that lunch is being dropped off to them.

Please help us with parking
Students who park on campus must have a 2016/2017 parking pass visible hanging from the rear view mirror. If parking passes are not visible students may face disciplinary actions.
Students cannot park in lower parking after 3:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lower parking must be cleared for band practice. Those cars left in lower parking after 3:30pm will face disciplinary action.New HAC Feature Allows Parents To View Student Course Selections
The Home Access Center or HAC has a new feature for parents of upcoming 7th through 12th grade students.
Login and click on Classes and then the Schedule tab and you will see course selections for next year.

Counseling Center
Attention Students! There are several spots open for this year's National Leadership Forum on June 4-9 at Harding University. They are extending the registration deadline until May 10, 2017. Students are registered from Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Girls- 10th, 11th & 12th grade - Girls of Promise is offering a half-day Coding Summit. The program is offered to novices and experienced coders. Textbook Brokers in Searcy, AR is giving away one $250 textbook rental scholarship, one $150 rental scholarship, as well as six $100 rental scholarships, to eight graduating seniors. Schools served are: Harding University, ASU-Searcy, ASU-Beebe, and ASU-Heber Springs. Applications are available in the counseling center. Deadline is May 29, 2017. Drawing will be held May 31, 2017 to determine the winners.

Seniors- The Horatio Alger Association is offering a $2,500 scholarship to pursue a career or technical education. Criteria includes high school completion by spring of 2017, Pell-eligibility, enrollment by fall 2017 with a commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical certificate/degree, and United States citizenship. This one week summer day camp is open to high school students interested in exploring careers in medicine. The focus is on care and maintenance of the brain as well as psychology. SENIORS- Textbook Brokers, located in Conway, AR, is offering 5 full textbook rental scholarships (all fall 2017 required textbooks paid). This scholarship is available to any first-time freshman attending the University of Central Arkansas, Central Baptist College, or the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. All Students- When registering online to take the ACT make sure your birthdate and Social Security number are correct. You also need to use your full name. Do not register under a nickname or partial name. For example, if your given name is John Michael Smith III, you must register under that name. Don’t register under the name you are called such as Trey Smith, but rather your full, given name. This will help avoid issues with sending transcripts, and ACT scores to colleges and universities.
Sophomores and Juniors - Lyon College is hosting Outdoor/ACT Prep Camp. When students aren't learning how to raise their ACT scores, they will be ziplining, bouldering, tackling the ropes course, or playing ultimate frisbee.
