Truitt Middle School
October 2018
Mission Statement
A message from our Principal, Ms. Garcia...
Dear Parents,
Last month we began our “No Zeros Saturday School” during the, 5th, 6th, and 7th weeks of each nine week grading period. Truitt is going to eliminate all zeros with your help. Your child will receive an invitation and a phone call from their teacher to attend Saturday School to make up work.
Feel free to check their grades online. If you have any concerns please contact their classroom teacher.
With your support no child will be retained for incomplete work.
Thank you,
Yvette Garcia

Thanksgiving Baskets
Bayou City Fellowship is partnering with Truitt again this year to provide Thanksgiving food baskets to families who would like them. If you are interested in receiving a basket, you will need to come to Truitt on Wednesday, November 14 to pick it up. We need to know if your family is interested by Friday, November 2. Please contact Laurie Waligura with any questions (laura.waligura@cfisd.net).
PBIS
One of our school-wide Pack Expectations is kindness. Children need reminders about trying to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. Ask your child to try to remember to think before saying something about someone and to take the time to consider how they might feel if someone said it to them.
Good manners such as being respectful to others, greeting people properly and speaking to people in a nice way, is also an important aspect of kindness that we are striving to teach our students.
Following adult directions are a key component of our PACK Expectations. When there is cooperation between adults and students, success is achieved. Our goal is to foster an atmosphere of cooperation.
Lunch Policy
Students will not be called to pick up lunch. Parents need to contact student to let them know lunch has been delivered. No UberEats or pizza delivery for students will be allowed.
Science
Our students took their first DPM the week of October 8th. Ask your 6th, 7th, or 8th grader how they did!
- 6th graders have been learning about metals, non-metals and the periodic table.
- 7th graders were able to create and Aquifer in class. Ask them about the different components in the Aquifer.
- 8th graders just finished the Electromagnetic Spectrum unit and are beginning Unit 4, Sun and Earth.
Car Rider Line
- Right turns only when you are exiting the Truitt parking lot.
- Do not drop off students on Addicks Satsuma. This causes a dangerous situation for your student and for the cars around you.
Notes from the Nurse!
ATTENTION 6TH GRADE PARENTS
According to the state law, all incoming 7th graders will need their 11-12 year old Tdap and meningococcal vaccines BEFORE starting school in August 2019. To avoid a delay in your child receiving his/her schedule next fall, you are encouraged take the time, this 6th grade year, to complete the required immunizations. Please send a copy to the school nurse before the end of their 6th grade year.
Extracurricular Student Behavior
All students must follow the Timberwolf Guidelines:
1. All students must go home before returning to campus. Athletes and fine arts students will follow the guidelines from their coach or director.
2. In order to purchase your game day ticket at lunch, students must be wearing their ID badge. Students can not purchase tickets at the door unless they are with their parent.
3. Badges must be worn properly at all times.
4. All students must stay in the appropriate area of the building.
6. Students who are not picked up 15 minutes after game time may lose the opportunity to participate in events in the future.
