Moving Along With Mrs. Maddox
Dear Jaguar Families,
Last week we celebrated our Catholic School and all that we have achieved this year. At St. Joseph, we are committed to the formation of not just the mind, but also the heart and soul of each child. We have the privilege of teaching each student their inherent worth and dignity as a son or daughter of God. This includes helping them to recognize these same gifts in others. We are extremely proud of our respected reputation regarding academic excellence throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area; however, to us, notes of gratitude for sincere kindness and hospitality regarding our students, mean just as must as our high achieving scores in Math, Reading, and Science. At St. Joe, we are about the heart and mind of the human person.
Last week the CEF Dollar Drive was a huge success! The amount of smack talk and good old fashioned competitive spirit was fun to listen to! Although students were battling for an out-of-uniform day and a pancake breakfast, they were also very aware of the opportunity to help and care for others. Their generous hearts brought in $4,154.00 for the Catholic Education Foundation. Wow!!!! These funds will help other students experience the joy of a Catholic Education. I am so proud of our Jaguars!!! Nice job, St. Joe!
Congratulations to the winning classes - Seventh Grade-3rd Place ($603), Fifth Grade-2nd Place ($1059) and Second Grade-1st Place ($1213.95)!
With a Grateful Heart,
Jodie Maddox

Please Bring An Extra Sack Lunch for the Food Kitchen When We Return on Tuesday, February 16!!!
We had such a good response last time helping the Food Kitchen. We are again asking each school family to contribute a sack lunch containing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit, a bag of chips and cookies or bars. Students can drop off the sack lunch at the front desk as they come in to school when we return on Tuesday morning, February 16. The need continues to be greater than ever this year. Thank you for your generosity! Remember to jot this on your calendar-it will be after our long weekend!

Canned Food Drive- February 18-19
The Corporal Works of Mercy give us a model for how we should treat others, as if they were Christ in disguise. The first of these is to feed the hungry. We’re having a food drive next week, and here’s what we need everyone to bring!
Canned Fruit- Kindergarten
Canned meat (tuna, meat, fish)- 1st grade
Peanut Butter- 2nd grade
Vegetables (no corn or beans)- 3rd grade
Pasta Sauce- 4th grade
Pancake mix- 5th grade
Oatmeal- 6th grade
Ketchup, BBQ sauce, salad dressing, pickles, mustard- 7th grade
Toilet Paper- 8th grade
Together, we can fill lots of bellies and warm lots of hearts. Remember, it’s what we do for the least of us that tells the world who we are. Let’s do this, St. Joe! February 18 and 19, time to stock those food shelves!

If you plan on traveling outside of the United States, the CDC has listed countries with travel advisories based on their current level of positive COVID cases. That information is listed on this link:

In an effort to keep both students and staff safe, we will be requiring those traveling to places with elevated COVID rates, to quarantine upon their return home. Please contact me with any questions.

St. Joseph Pandemic Prayer
St. Joseph Pandemic Prayer for Healing and Guidance 2020-2021
Good and Gracious Lord, You have led us through difficult times before and continuously guide us with your wisdom and dignity. Be our navigator as we encompass new and frightening paths. There is much strife and anxiety when it comes to the unknown. Please continue to be our safeguard and our comfort. Help all of us discover, acknowledge, and honor your blessings during these times of uncertainty. Walk with us this school year. In Your name we pray, Amen.
