Growth and Family Involvement Within The School
Our staff has worked together to create a parent survey that we hope will provide us with valuable feedback. Here is the link to the survey, https://forms.gle/cWoY2AvQVLoSSVmm9. It has also been sent out through our website, Facebook, Twitter, School Messenger and Seesaw.
If you would prefer a paper copy, please call the school and we would be happy to send one home for you to complete.
Our goal is to make changes for next school year that will increase our home/school partnership.

On e-learning days, assignments are posted by 9 a.m. and attendance is taken.
Reminder - If your child rides the bus, you can download "Here Comes the Bus" app to keep track of location and when it will arrive at your child's bus stop. this is handy during the cold months!
Bus Change Requests
If you need to change your bus location, please go to the North Side website, https://www.eastnoble.net/o/north-side-elementary, and follow these directions:
Click on the "Menu" at the top of the home page. Click the “For Families” tab and then the "Transportation" tab. When the drop down menu appears, you will see a link called “Transportation Change Request.” When you click that link, you will be taken to a form that you can fill out and submit electronically. It will notify transportation via email that a request has been submitted and they will begin working on fulfilling the request. Once arrangements have been made and confirmed with drivers, transportation will communicate the arrangements to parents.

Cafeteria News
We are honored to serve both breakfast and lunch to our students! Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. each day. Our students should eat breakfast (at home or school) in order to focus and learn in the classrooms! We take pride in supporting their nutrition!
Reminder: Students must remove outerwear before going through the lunch line.
Have you downloaded our new district app? It gives you access to information, events and schedules for all buildings!
FROM THE OFFICE OF MR. PERLICH, DEAN OF STUDENTS
Attendance:
Our district policy is to send out letters to parents when students get to 3, 5, and 7 absences. At 7 absences a parent meeting may take place to go over this policy and stress the importance of your child being in school. We understand that sickness happens and the flu season is hitting hard. Doctor notes are an important part of this. If your child has been seen by a doctor, please get those notes turned in. Once a student has a high number of absences, a doctor note will be required for us to not move forward with turning over to the prosecutor. This is not our goal as a school, but we must also follow the state laws when it comes to attendance.
Safety:
This past month we were able to practice a fire drill, shelter in place, lockdown and a bus evacuation for those that ride a bus. These drills allow our staff and students to be prepared in the case of an actual emergency.
Students who are dropped before school or picked up after school should be using the car rider line. If you need a name tag to pick up a student in the car rider line, please stop in the main office to pick this up. Busses use the main entrance and it becomes a safety issue when students need to cross in front of or behind the busses.

Counseling Corner with Miss Headley:
COPING SKILLS
A coping skill is a way that you handle overwhelming feelings, anger, stress, fear or any strong emotions you may have.
When faced with these overwhelming, stressful, or tense situations we can choose to use a positive or a negative coping skill. Student(s) will be learning and/or reviewing the differences between these coping skills and how to handle strong emotions. Adversity is inevitable, however given the skills they may find these situations a little less stressful when using a positive coping skill. Here are a handful of the positive and negative coping skills we have been discussing. Please help us to continue the discussion at home to help your student choose a positive coping skill when dealing with overwhelming, stressful or tense situations.
Positive
Deep breathing
Taking a break
Coloring
Drawing
Talking it out with a friend/teacher/parents
Writing your feelings down on paper
Exercising
Utilize a stress ball
Listening to music
Negative
Yelling
Hitting Others
Throwing Objects
Running away from an adult
Kicking Others
saying mean things
Shutting down and refusing to speak
Nurses Corner:
Flu season is in full force! Please remind your children to cover their mouths, keep their hands away from their faces and wash, wash, wash those hands to help avoid the spread of germs!!!!
