Winter Royalty and School Spirit
King and Queen of Courts
Atchison County Community Junior Senior High School congratulates the 2024 King and Queen of Courts and their court, who were crowned during halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game Friday, February 2, 2024. Carter Swendson was crowned King of Courts and Malorie Bosch was crowned Queen of Courts. Rounding out the royal court were candidates Carter Page, James Schuetz, Emma Speer, and Avery Sutley. Assisting with the crowning were representatives of the ACCHS Student Council and Cheerleaders, and announcer, Student Council President Taylor Keimig.

Atchison County Community Junior Senior High School congratulates the 2024 King and Queen of Mats and their court, who were crowned prior to the home wrestling match Thursday, January 25, 2024. Landon Burge was crowned King of Mats and Hannah Simmers was crowned Queen of Mats. Rounding out the royal court were candidates Nick Cairo, Natalie Donaldson, Taylor Keimig, and Vincent Webb. Assisting with the crowning were representatives of the ACCHS Student Council, Dance Team and Cheerleaders, and announcer, Senior Class President Ellie Speer.

Our Lady Tigers wrestled in the 4th Annual Washburn Women’s Invitational on Saturday. It was a tough tournament with over 30 schools competing.

Basehor Linwood Tournament
The Tigers had their best weekend of the season finishing in 8th place out of 35 teams from Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri at the tough BOBCAT CLASSIC. We finished with 4 medalist. The Tigers placed ahead of many top 10 ranked teams in 4A, 5A, and 6A. There were many state ranked wrestlers and state medalists from last year who didn't reach the podium.

Easton Schletzbaum, a junior, earned his 100th career win in front of the home crowd on February 1st. Then on Saturday at the Silver Lake Tournament, Easton was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Hannah Simmers Signs with Baker University
Hannah Simmers signed her Letter of Intent to continue to wrestle at the next level. Hannah will be a member of the Basker University Girls Wrestling team next year.

County Spelling Bee Winners
Congratulations to ACCES student Aubrey Vanderpool for being named the Champion Speller at this year's Atchison County Spelling Bee. Congratulations to ACCES Runner-up at the County Spelling Bee - Balek Goodpasture.

Adeline McManus placed 5th in Informative Speaking at the Sabetha Invitational.
Ben Beene and Nathan Palmer placed 3rd in Duet Acting at the Nemaha Central Invitational.

FFA Meats Judging
Congratulations to the FFA meats judging team today for placing 9th as a team at NE District Meats Contest! It’s a challenging contest where students have to place whole beef and pork carcasses, yield grade, quality grade, place cut classes and identify over 50 different retail cuts from beef, pork, and sheep. They learned valuable real life soft skills today and have a better understanding of how our meat is processed!

We had 20 members of the Tiger Band program playing in one of the five bands split into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year band students! So proud of these kids for the wonderful concerts they put on today and their representation of the Tiger Band way

Washburn Honor Band
Tiger Band took members to participate in the Washburn Honor Band on January 17th. These students spent the morning rehearsing and then gave at concert at 6:00pm that evening.
K-State Concert Band
Rebekah Caplinger, Stephen Feek, Kaylee Foot, and Avery Handke spent three days rehearsing at McCain Hall on the campus of Kansas State University. On Sunday the students performed in their various bands on the stage at McCain Auditorium.
JH NEKL Mass Choir
On Tuesday, February 6, 2024 the Junior High Choir went to JCN Middle School to participate in the NEKL Mass Choir Day. The students spent the morning rehearsing their music and then performed their songs with the other choirs in the league.
