Early Release Wednesday

Reminder: The first early release of the school year is next Wednesday, September 14. Students will be dismissed one hour early @ 1:15 PM. Every Wednesday will be an early release. See the District Calendar for a complete list of early release dates and other important dates.

Back to School Night

On Thursday, September 22, we will host Back To School Night from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. We will begin with a presentation from the principal in the cafeteria. Following this, each classroom will offer two, 25 minute sessions. This is a time for parents to visit the classroom and learn about the curriculum that will be covered in their child's class this year.


  • Principal's Presentation: 5:00 - 5:30 pm

  • Session #1: 5:35 - 6:00 pm

  • Session #2: 6:05 - 6:30 pm

Picture Day

Picture Day will take place on October 4. Your student will be bringing home order forms via backpack mail next week. You can also order online by visiting Dorian Studios and searching for Middleton. Your online order can be placed before and up to four days after picture day.

Yearbooks

Pre-order your yearbook by September 30 to get 10% off the purchase price. Navigate to the TreeRing flyer or use the QR code for more information. Don’t forget to download your first day of school pics to the TreeRing App so we can include them in the yearbook!

Fun Run

The Middleton Fun Run will take place on Friday, September 23 and includes our PreK-5th grade students. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we appreciate your support! More information will be sent home with your student in today's Friday Folder. Families are invited to attend and cheer for their student. We will have several check in tables down on the field. Parents should visit one of the tables to sign in and receive a visitor sticker. We are looking forward to this fun event!

Middleton Music Makers

Do you have a 4th or 5th grade student that loves to sing? If so, they might enjoy being a part of the Middleton Music Makers Choir! For more information, check out the flyer linked here.

Health Reminders

Now that we are back in school, we wanted to send some health and wellness reminders. Please be sure to keep your student home if they are ill or have a fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. In addition, we suggest that you check your child's hair regularly for lice. Please notify the front office of any known cases so that we may take precautionary measures at school. All information will be kept confidential.

  • Free Meals Application- Meal pricing returns this year. Information about lunch and breakfast prices and menus can be found on our Nutrition Department web page linked here. You can also make payments in person via the drop box outside located in the Middleton lobby. If you would like to apply for our free lunch program please complete the application linked here.

Get Involved

Volunteering- There are many opportunities to volunteer at Middleton. All volunteers will need to a) complete a background check and b) submit a proof of vaccination or receive approval for a vaccination exception.
  • Background checks are completed online: Background Check Forms. Background checks may take up to 10 days to process.
  • Proof of vaccination are submitted to the Middleton front office in person or via email (mwunnicke@sherwood.k12.or.us). This can be done on the first day of volunteering. Vaccination exception forms, if needed, can be found here: Medical Exception Request or Religious Exception Request. Completed exception forms are emailed to Steve Emmert at semmert@sherwood.k12.or.us. Exceptions may take up to 14 days to process.


Site Council-
The Middleton Site Council has open positions for the 22-23 school year and we hope you will consider joining the team. Site Council Meetings are held bimonthly from 2:30-3:30. The purpose of the team is to provide feedback around school improvement goals and guide the school toward achieving these goals. If you are interested, please email Michelle Wunnicke at mwunnicke@sherwood.k12.or.us.

PAC- Our parent volunteer group is a very important part of our school. We are in need of several volunteers to get our PAC positions filled. Get connected with the Middleton PAC today! Admission to SHS Athletic Events

This year, Sherwood High School - and other schools in our league - are moving to online ticketing through Hometown Ticketing, Inc. Tickets can be purchased online through the High School Website or the Hometown Ticketing App. It is highly preferred that tickets are pre-purchased online, and may be purchased with card or cash at the entrance gates. For more information about admission to this year's athletic events at Sherwood High School, please visit the District website here.

In the event of inclement weather, urgent alerts (such as bus route delays), or emergencies, the Sherwood School District will utilize one or more of the following communications:


  • School Messenger - This is an automated system that will send district or school level alerts, newsletters, or announcements to the parent/guardian information on file with the school. If your email address or phone number have changed, please update your contact information with your child's school office. If you have unsubscribed from these messages in the past but would like to be re-enrolled, please contact candregg@sherwood.k12.or.us for assistance.


  • District Website - All high-priority alerts will be posted to the main SSD website here (look for a red alert bar at the top of the website for most up-to-date information).


  • District Social Media - The District is on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sherwoodschooldistrict88J or on Twitter at twitter.com/SherwoodSD


  • FlashAlert - This is a free subscription service that alerts users via text or app notifications. Sign up at www.flashalert.net/signup or by downloading the FlashAlert app on your smartphone.
