The Kangaroo Baseball team lost a tough playoff series to Fort Worth Paschal this past weekend. Thank you, Roos, for a terrific season! We loved watching you play.

At the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event, Madison Ringo received another award for her image "Technology". She received a ranking of a 4, which is the highest ranking an image/artwork can receive.

The Photography classes competed in the Association of Texas Photography Instructors, TOP PROGRAM contest. Each school is allowed to turn in 3 portfolios, each consisting of 10 images that represent a given category. Portfolios must have images from a variety of students in a school's photography program. The Weatherford HS Main Campus competes against schools across the state of Texas that are 9-12 and career magnet schools. This year, our Portrait portfolio AND our Still-Life portfolio placed FIRST!

We are still awaiting our State Ranking for Top Program.

NGC Photography Student Results:

Each school is allowed to turn in 3 portfolios, each consisting of 10 images that represent a given category. Portfolios must have images from a variety of students in a school's photography program. The Weatherford HS Ninth Grade Campus competes against schools across the state of Texas that are 9-12 and career magnet schools. This year, our architecture portfolio placed FIRST, our thematic portfolio placed SECOND and our portrait portfolio placed SECOND!

This gave us an overall ranking of SECOND in the state in the Rising Star Portfolio contest.

This is the BEST ranking our school has EVER received in this competition, and the BEST a 9th grade campus has ever received in the competition.

One of our NGC photographers, Chloe Clark, now has the honor of her photograph on the ATPI website as a background image on their homepage. This is AMAZING! Please go see it! http://www.atpi.org It is a black and white image of a bridge from Fort Worth.

Weatherford ISD hosted Roo Fest recently, an annual Special Olympics event, inviting students from surrounding school districts to participate, while other WHS and NGC students facilitated fun events. This year's Roo Fest was held at Kangaroo Stadium. Fun was had by all. Thank you to all the participants, vendors, sponsors, coordinators, participants, and fans!

Casie Walker and Terry Ferguson were named WISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year, respectively, at the Teacher of the Year Luncheon.

Safety and Security Survey Results

The results of the staff, parent/community, and student surveys regarding safety and security in Weatherford ISD have been posted on the Weatherford ISD website home page and are attached. The Board of Trustees are currently reviewing these survey results and related information and are expected to considered additional safety enhancements at a future school board meeting. We will communicate any actions taken by the Board of Trustees to you.

For Students: The annual #Collegiance Campaign for students has launched. #Collegiance celebrates high school students making their college decision by encouraging them to pledge their #Collegiance on Instagram. Students who create an original and creative Instagram video, Boomerang, or photo will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 cash prizes. The winners will be selected by media and film professors from College Board member institutions. Student submissions are due on May 15, 2018.
