THIS WEEK IN GRADES K-6
KINDERGARTEN
Remember, The International Festival is this Saturday, January 21st, from 11:00-4:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through school pay. There will be a lot of fun activities, yummy food, and cute art crafts to see. Ms. Volden’s class will represent Ireland!
FIRST
In first grade we did an outside activity, they observed objects with their eyes and then observed the objects again with a magnifier. They draw how the object appears when observed with and without the magnifier. This activity helps the students discover the things that surround them. We use the learning-by-doing theory of education wherein focuses on learning by doing. It encourages the students to learn through experiences that can help them retain information and recall facts.
SECOND
Second grade is surprised how quickly the year is already moving. The students have been working so hard! They are learning about Dramas and plays, The Structure of the Earth, Three Branches of government, and continuing to learn about place value and word problems.
The students have really started to show growth as they work collaboratively in stations and STEAM bins!
THIRD
In third grade, students have been learning to classify animals in science and have been traveling the United States as they explore the different regions. After our long break, students are settling back into routines and have started quarter 3 strong.
FOURTH
This week in fourth Grade we have been learning all about Earth,Sun and Moon. We have also been working on our Stem Fair Projects and learning what a testable question entails. In math we continue focusing on Multi-step problems and the different steps to solve them. Our students have been working really hard this entire week! We are so proud of them!
FIFTH
This week our fifth graders received a new project where they will be coming up with an invention for a Shark Tank competition. They are very excited to be the sharks and judge each other! In WIN the students have been working hard on their podcasts of their favorite authors!
SIXTH
This week students in World History class took the History Bee qualifying exam. Student who qualify to move on will recieve an email from their World History teacher with details on next steps.
On January 12th Anishka Sharma, Anwesha Byadagi, Gauri Borkar, Makena Jane, Nirav Shah, Niyati Devnani and Soha Chhabra competed against 50+ middle school students from grades 6-8 for the Orlando Science school level science fair. Congratulations to our 6th-grade students who will be advancing onto the Ying Expo County Science Fair and representing Orlando Science Technology Campus at county. These students have been working diligently this entire school year and are excited to proceed to the next level in February. They will be modifying their presentation boards and working on the verbal presentations to gear up for the big day. Keep up the good work orcas!
This week in Turkish class students got information about the country Turkey and started to learn the language with the greeting words.
Also in Turkish class, last semester students got the opportunity to listen to a KANUN recital in class , and tried to play the instrument a little. Special Thanks to Ms. Ebru for the wonderful recital.
