Our traditional practice schedule is as follows.

Tuesday, 4:30-7:00pm – Percussion/Guard

Wednesday, 4:30-7:00pm – All Members

Thursday, 4:30-7:00pm – All Members

Look for a more detailed calendar next week as more information is available.

This will not resume until in-person learning begins in LTISD. During our 3 weeks of virtual instruction we will schedule workshops after school once a week with leaders in our field as enrichment activities for our band members. This virtual instruction window has provided opportunities for our students to interact with educators from around the country that they otherwise would not have a chance to meet. We are excited to share these experiences with our kids starting the week of August 24th.

Due to the holiday flag distribution the weekend of Labor Day or first week of practice is tentatively set for Wed-Fri, 4:30-7:00pm

THE BEST WAY for students to get connected to current members and feel more prepared for the fall is through participation in these exercises. Future 9th grade participation is imperative and will set the students up to feel more connected to other members and be better prepared for the Cavalier Band. They do not need to feel any pressure to be perfect with these assignments. It’s a very welcoming environment all about students working together and giving tips on the next steps to prepare them for the fall season.

Physical and ECC are paper forms. You may turn them in on EDay. Both require student and parent signatures and dates. Make sure that paper forms are COMPLETELY filled out. Physicals are waived this year only if you have a physical on file with the high school last year.

One of the biggest advantages of being in the Lake Travis Band program is the availability of our Individual Music Instruction Program. These individually based lessons take place once a week before, during or after school. We strongly encourage all of our students to enroll in private lessons. Private lessons provide consistent one-on-one instruction for students. Lesson times are determined by faculty availability. Lessons are scheduled during the school day when possible, but some lessons might have to take place before/after school once a week. Lessons will be offered virtually in the fall semester. Students will be allowed to participate during class time if they choose remote or in-person learning. Practice rooms will be available for individual students for on campus learning.

E Day has tentatively been rescheduled for Saturday, September 12 from 9am-4pm in the main cafeteria. Please plan to enter through the front entrance of the main building where there will be a check-in table to get you started. A parent and their student should both plan to attend if at all possible.

Here is the information for the Lake Travis Cavalier Band Sponsorship Packages for 2020-2021. We have several different opportunities for a family or business to support our amazing band! Feel free to review the slides below and email Megan Granelli at ltbppres@gmail.com with any questions or if you are interested in sponsoring the band!

A few notes:

• if you have paper forms (ECC, History and Physical), make sure they are signed and dated by all parties. You can hang on to them until E Day and turn them in at that time.
• if you participated in band/sport in 2019-2020 school year with a current physical at the HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL as a 9th, 10th or 11th grader, you do NOT need a new physical this year per UIL. Incoming Freshman (even if they had a physical/played a sport in LTISD last year) and new students WILL need a new physical.
• if you need a physical, there will be several opportunities for reduced cost physicals in the area. More information to come! There will likely not be a district-sponsored physical offered this year.
• Rank One forms require electronic signatures from both parent and student and take some time to fill out. There are three separate forms on Rank One that need to be completed. Plan accordingly.
• Drug Testing Consent is under review and may change. Not necessary to fill out current form at this time.

Dear Lake Travis ISD Parents and Guardians,

In May, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Medical Advisory Committee recommended adjusting requirements related to pre-participation physical examinations for the 2020-2021 school year. The UIL Legislative Council approved the adjustments on Friday, May 1, 2020. The changes have also been approved by the Texas Commissioner of Education and the LTISD school board and will be in effect for the 2020-2021 school year only.

The changes as it relates to the requirements for pre-participation physical examinations are as follows:

For the 2020-2021 school year only, any participant in athletics, cheer, dance, or marching band, in any grade level, who has not previously completed a pre-participation physical examination (PPE), and been cleared for participation, will be required to complete the medical history form as noted in current rule, as well as a PPE prior to participation in any UIL practices, games, performances, or matches.

As required under current rule and district practice, all students participating in athletics, cheer, dance or marching band will be required to complete the UIL Medical History Form (or one that is substantially similar). Any “yes” answer to questions 1-6 on the Medical History Form will require a student to receive further medical evaluation, which may include a physical exam, and receive written clearance from a physician, physician assistant, chiropractor, or nurse practitioner before any participation in UIL practices, games, performances, or matches. Only those students with “yes” answers to those questions are required to receive written clearance through further medical evaluation.

Please know, this process is valid only for the 2020-2021 school year. We understand that some families may feel more comfortable completing an annual physical regardless of the rule change, and we encourage you to do so as you see fit. Our medical training staff will continue to receive and file all documentation for student medical records.
