Hello October!

Is anyone else having a hard time believing it's October already?! We had another great week at RES to close out the month of September. First grade learned all about Johnny Appleseed and finished the week by sampling just about every imaginable apple treat. Second grade took a trip to the Titus County Fair to learn about the animals on exhibit. We look forward to great things in October!

Parents of students who are currently being served in our dyslexia programs are invited and encouraged to attend our Dyslexia Awareness Parent Night.

Royal Manners at RES

Mrs. Irwin, our counselor, implemented a program at RES last year to promote manners, kindness, and being a good citizen. We call it Royal Manners. Students and teachers are able to nominate students by filling out a form naming who they want to recognize and the good deed their nominee has displayed. The form is then placed in a box in the hallway. On Wednesdays of each week, Mrs. Irwin draws a few names from the box and those students are awarded a prize.


At the end of each month, we also recognize a class from each grade level that has most consistently displayed Royal Manners throughout the month. The class winners are treated to a small celebration where Mrs. Irwin and her recruits dress up, perform some type of act, and present treats to the students and teachers. The winning classes also get a banner to hang outside their classroom for the month.

At Rivercrest Elementary, we care about each and every student. We also believe that open communication between parents and teachers is a key to student success. Thank you for partnering with your child's teacher and school to address any concerns.

Tardies and "Leave Earlies"

Please remember that tardies and "leave earlies" do count towards your child's attendance record and are subject to attendance laws. Not only do tardies and "leave earlies" count towards attendance records, but your child is also missing valuable instructional time which could negatively impact their academic progress. Please make every effort to keep tardies and "leave earlies" at a MINIMUM. Thank you for joining us in making your child's education a priority!
We make student and staff safety a priority at RES! One new safety feature we are implementing is that you MUST present a state issued photo ID to be permitted to visit our campus. Your ID will be kept in the front office while you are on campus. Your ID will be returned when you check out in the front office. This will help us keep track of anyone on campus in the event of an emergency. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding!


Also, be prepared to show a photo ID when checking students out early.

Our football teams, cheerleaders, and band members put in hours and hours each week preparing to perform for our community on Friday nights. They deserve our attention and support during the games. Elementary students should be seated with parents/adults and supervised during these events. Students are not allowed to bring sports balls or play on practice fields, around the bleachers, parking, or concession areas. Thank you for your support in helping build school spirit and cheering on the high school performers.
