When and not if. This week, Hawthorne staff and students did a great job staying focused and working hard with Fall Break just around the corner. In one of our hard working conversations, teachers challenged each other to think “when” and not “if.” Their thinking lie in the fact that teachers have done so many great things with students, that any current challenge will be improved! So the message is “when” the student learns all of his letter and “when” the class gets main idea and detail, because they will get it! I saw first-hand the power of great teaching when I witnessed a student overcome a social challenge using the skills learned in class. The best part: the student’s breakthrough was celebrated but the student continued on as though this was always going to happen and it was no big deal. These examples are proof that we as adults can foster the “when” attitude in our students and they will greatly benefit from knowing that their efforts will pay off. Enjoy this wonderful weather!

Donations Needed

Cold and flu season is right around the corner! Classroom teachers are taking donations of disinfecting spray and/or wipes to keep student desks and other classroom areas free of germs. If you'd like to help, please send your donation with your student. Thank you for helping to keep our Hawks happy and healthy!

If your student has borrowed clothing from the clinic please return it to school as soon as possible.The clinic is running short in some sizes. If you have any gently used uniform-style clothing your child has outgrown, please consider donating it to our school. Thank you in advance.
