ECHS Exemptions
At ECHS, semester exam exemptions are offered as attendance and behavior incentives for students. To qualify for an exam exemption in a course, a student must meet the following criteria...
Exemptions-
9th Grade- Two classes per semester
10th Grade- Four classes per semester
11th Grade- Six classes per semester
12th Grade- All classes for the semester
To earn the exemption, the student must:
- Maintain a 90+ average with no more than 4 absences
- Maintain an 80+ average with no more than 3 absences
- May NOT have been placed in Principal's D-Hall, DAEP, ISS, or be suspended
- No outstanding fees or fines
- Dual credit courses do not apply to this policy
Please note: The only doctors notes that do not count against a student per TEA rules are attendance code: M-DNs. This means that the student came to school at least one class period during the day that they were seen by a doctor. The attendance code: A-DN means that a student had a doctors note but did not attend school that day and counts as an absence in regards to the exemption rule.
School related/UIL absences do not count against a student in regards to exemptions.
Students do not have to accept the exemption; they may take the exam if they choose.
