R-PTLE Weekly Family Communication
Week of September 25th, 2023 (#5)
It's Fall!
Dear Families,
My favorite season of the year! Lions let me down last week, let's hope they rebound and get it done this week š¬. Breakfast is going well. With a higher number of breakfast eaters... If you are dropping off your student(s) for breakfast, please have them ready to walk in the door at 8:25 am. This helps so much with getting the kids through the line and eating at their table quicker. Thank you!
We are almost 100 % set with our transitions and our schedule of instruction and interventions. As October is right around the corner, it highlights a critical 3 months of teaching and learning. let's all lean in to this process together so we can ensure the best possible outcomes in our county!
Let's enjoy an amazing week of learning!
Just added:
- Rock Star Teacher (every other week). Highlighted every other week. Recognition and a change for students to get to know our adults a bit better.
- Capturing Kids' Hearts theme - EMPATHY
- Lost and Found Pic - missing anything?
- Paraprofessional help needed - soon!
Sincerely,
Paul Siembida

Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH)
This Month's Theme is EMPATHY!
What is Empathy?
Empathy is the ability to be aware of, understand, and be sensitive to another personās feelings. Instead of focusing how these feelings impact ourselves, empathy motivates us to focus on others and respond with care and compassion.
Even though much of our focus has been on teaching and learning our classroom and building expectations this month, talking about Empathy fits in as well. Often times, when we fall short of meeting expectations we impact those around us. The better we understand EMPATHY, the better we understand that our actions can affect a person's feelings, mood, and experience (either positively or negatively). Meeting our classroom and building expectations is displaying EMPATHY towards others.
September Breakfast/Lunch Menu
As you might already know from Mr. Edward's email sent out to our community a few weeks ago, all Students will have access to free breakfast and lunch this school year. Super Important to fill out the application below. If you have not yet already done so, please fill out the application below.
Free/Reduced Lunch Application
Update every school year!
Please click the link below to fill out our Free/Reduced application. It is important for a few school funding formulas to have these applications on file. The more applications we get turned in, the better chances we have to be granted funding from various different State and Federal sources. If you have been eligible for this program in the past, you will need to fill the application out for this upcoming school year. If you are unsure, please fill it out and the Kitchen Staff will be in contact with you. I filled out the Siembida Family's application - Start to finish took me 6 minutes on my phone.
Please note: Nobody at Twin Lake will see your application. ONLY our food service director sees these applications.
PTO Information
Our PTO team worked hard to get orders organized for the Mum Fundraiser. Only one or two remain left over to get picked up. Thank you for your hard work, PTO! Next up is an opportunity to increase your R-PTLE gear. Sweatshirt and T-Shirt sales are being organized to be sent out soon!
Their efforts are always focused on providing opportunities for our students to have better experiences in our building and/or our community.
Thanks to all of you supporting our groups fundraising efforts!
See anything that is yours?
Lost and Found can get out of hand pretty fast in an elementary building. If you see anything that is yours, please claim it! We will hold stuff until it overflows then we need to wash and donate to clear space. Please talk with your student(s) to grab their stuff if you see something familiar. Thank you!
Paraprofessional Help Needed!
Twin Lake Elementary will be in need of a Paraprofessional. Soon, one of our Paraprofessionals will be on a leave. If you, or a person you know, might be interested in working with students in our building please reach out and inquire about this opportunity. You can email siembidap@reeths-puffer.org or call the school at 231-719-3190.
Please help spread the word.

Power School Demographic Update.
Important!
Updating your demographics in your parent portal is so critical to ensure effective communication, safety, and staying informed. Please follow the steps provided in the PDF below. If you already have a portal account the demographic update is fairly simple and straight forward. If you are new and need to create an account follow the steps below. Please call the office for assistance.
The portal will open this upcoming week. If you click on the link inside the PDF and it states the portal is temporarily disabled, please try again later. I am not sure when the portal will go live, but it will be live sometime early in the week. We will provide another set of instructions with pictures to help guide after the portal opens. I will send an updated newsletter with these updated instructions that may be easier to follow.
