Clifton Community Newsletter

Can you believe it's already Week 5 of the new school year? Our assistant principal, Ms. Edson, and I are working hard to learn every student's name, and we're just about there. We've already started our internships in three programs as well as volunteer opportunities in some of our other classes.

This week, we were excited to host all high school principals to showcase our programs and amazing students. Our Hospitality students set up our Clifton Cafe using succulent bowls from Plant Science as centerpieces, and our Culinary Arts students made a sweet treat for the occasion. The other principals took a tour of the campus and were so impressed with the hard work of our staff and students.

This year, one of our goals is to increase family and community engagement. This means more frequent communication with families, more community events, and, for the first time ever, we will be trying to start our own Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). AISD SHOWCASE:

Come see us at the 2nd Annual Austin ISD Showcase on Saturday, September 23 at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Road) from 9am to noon. Information about shuttle buses and more can be found at https://www.austinisd.org/showcase.

2022 BOND PROJECTS:

As part of the 2022 Bond, Clifton was allocated a little over $13 million dollars for campus improvements. While some of this will go to electrical, plumbing, and safety projects, we are working to use our money strategically so that we can add some additional programs to campus. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to provide input on our future plans!

ATTENDANCE:

Our goal at Clifton (and across the district) is 90% attendance for every student - that means only missing one or two days every grading period. Please keep an eye out in our next newsletter for information about our Fall Clifton Attendance Incentive.
