Superintendent's Report

Please join us in expressing gratitude to Ms. Greta Paker, an Educational Assistant at Sandy Run Middle School, who saved a 7th-grade student choking on a piece of candy. Greta's quick action prevented a tragedy. We are extremely proud of Greta for her swift action. She may not wear a cape, but Greta is definitely a hero!

We are pleased to recognize her this evening!

There is one retirement on the personnel report this evening: Jessie Rush. Jessie has been part of the District's custodial crew for over 20 years! Congratulations, Jessie, on your retirement.

We are asking the Board to approve the proposed revisions to next year's calendar. Namely, these revisions include moving our elementary conferences from December 14th and 15th to November 20th and 21st.

This change will mean that our K-8 conferences occur in the same window, and it will provide parents/guardians and teachers time to discuss our elementary students' performance in class in advance of receiving progress reports for the first trimester. If approved by the Board tonight, we will communicate this change in our District newsletter and also via our principals' weekly communications.

Donation from UDJAA - UDJAA's mission is to build community through sports. Tonight we are asking the Board to accept a very generous $50,000 donation. Several years ago when the SRMS was in the approval stages, UDJAA pledged their donation if both the auxiliary gymnasium and the artificial field were constructed. We thank UDJAA!

Donation from Giant - Giant Company and local store leadership presented the Department of Food Services with a check for $4,187.55. We are asking the Board to accept this donation this evening. This donation is part of the 2023 Feeding School Kids initiative, which aims to support district food service departments and the mission to end childhood hunger.

We were pleased to welcome Ms. Jennifer Nuskey as our new Sandy Run Middle School House Principal on Monday, March 13, 2023. Jennifer is an instructional and organizational leader who has committed herself to creating, supporting, and sustaining equity- focused systems that support the advancement, achievement, and growth of students. Jennifer comes to Upper Dublin from the School District of Philadelphia.

Over the course of her career, she has held teaching and administrative positions where she has proven her competency in instructional coaching, equity-centered leadership, building strong teams, district-wide and school-based vision and goal alignment, and family and community engagement.

We continue to register kindergarten students and students in grades 1-12 for next school year. Registration information is available on our website. Our District's registrar, Ms. Mora Ruiz, is eager to help anyone who may need assistance in the registration process.

Please keep in mind that students must be at least five (5) years of age before September 15, 2023, in order to be registered for kindergarten. Next year's kindergarten students will be the Class of 2036!

The March edition News from Nest will be released tomorrow, March 28, 2023. The newsletter will contain information on District events, processes, and celebrations. A number of students and teams will be highlighted in the newsletter; check your inbox tomorrow afternoon!
