FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Have You Tried the CSD Chatbot?
CSD is excited about the launch of our latest addition to the website, the Centennial AI chatbot "pilot". This innovative technology has been making waves and we have received positive feedback from our users.
The chatbot's remarkable feature is its continuous improvement with each question asked. Every interaction with it contributes to its ever-expanding knowledge base and enhanced capabilities. As a result, our chatbot will continue to improve and deliver even more helpful responses. Remember, this is a pilot launch and it will improve over time.
Teddy Daiber, the founder of AlwaysOn stated, "Our product uses AI to build a comprehension and understanding of K-12 school districts. By training on thousands of school-related topics and questions, our AI has out-of-the-box K-12 expertise. Every engagement with the chatbot helps improve our AI's ability to process questions and provide the best possible answers that are specific to school districts."
We are committed to continually enhancing the chatbot's capabilities to better serve the community's needs. Thank you to everyone who has helped us build this technology by using this new, valuable tool.

CENTENNIAL HIGHLIGHTS
Keystone Technology Innovators!
In the heart of summer, from July 24 to July 28, the campus of Shippensburg University transformed into a hub of innovation and camaraderie as the Keystone Technology Innovators Summit unfolded. The event, a gathering of forward-thinking enthusiasts from across the Commonwealth, was a celebration of learning, technology, and connections.
Amidst the rustic charm of the campus, Klinger teachers, Kevin Deissler and George Fischer, dove into a whirlwind of captivating technology workshops. From coding marvels to cutting-edge classroom tools, the sessions ignited their curiosity and sparked their creativity. The real magic, however, lay in the friendships they forged. Hailing from diverse corners of the state, they bonded over a shared passion for technology and teaching.
To attend, teachers had to be nominated by an administrator. That sense of recognition added a special touch. Learning, laughing, and growing together, they left the summit invigorated, ready to inject newfound enthusiasm into the upcoming school year. The Keystone Technology Innovators Summer Summit wasn't just a conference; it was a transformative experience that fueled their motivation to shape the future for our students and ourselves.
Learning Under the Sun
Construction of the Log College Outdoor Classroom is complete. While there will be some additional elements added to brighten up the space, we look forward to using the space. Additionally, we will formally acknowledge the area in a ceremony later this Fall. Special thanks to Log College teacher, Mr. Markey for building the structure.
Writing Lab Workshops
Mentors from the writing lab assisted students in the Pathways Course with strategies for writing their college essays. Ms. Leahy and Mrs. Christine work with 5 upperclassmen during 3rd period to provide writing assistance to anyone in the school. All students are welcome to come to the library during their lunch to get assistance with projects, essays, resumes, and more!
SEAL WIN Starting at McDonald
This week, 2nd-grade students brainstormed and created a list of what respect looks like. The students were then encouraged to model this behavior throughout the day. At the end of the day, students engaged in a brief closing circle activity to summarize the day’s learning, and how to continue to extend the concept of respect in the future. Pictures below show the students collaborating during the WIN period, and the list the students created.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education's Division of Federal Programs administers federal programs and funding to over 570 local education agencies and non-public and charter schools in the amount of $700 million dollars. The Centennial School District receives Federal Title I funds, which are used to finance supplemental educational services in reading/language arts and math to assist students in meeting state achievement standards. Our Title I Schoolwide Schools are Log College Middle School, McDonald Elementary School, and Willow Dale Elementary School.
Throughout the school year, the schools will be providing their families with information related to these schoolwide services. Along with the school and district-based events, we also have resources on standards, assessments, and CSD programming on our district website: Teaching & Learning.
As an outcome of our Title I status, parents/families are invited to review, evaluate, and/or provide feedback for potential revisions to any number of the following:

2023-26 Comprehensive Planning Feedback
The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires school districts to complete a Comprehensive Plan. Elements of the Comprehensive plan include but are not limited to: District Profile, Planning Process/Committee, Mission, Vision and Values, Instructional Strategies, Safe and Supportive Schools, Special Education Assurances, Induction Plans, Needs Assessments, Action Plan and Goals, and Professional Development. There are also a series of other State Required Reports that are included: Academic Standards and Assessment Requirements (Chapter 4), Gifted Education Plan Assurances (Chapter 16), Induction Plan (Chapter 49), Professional Development Plan (Act 48), and Student Services Assurances (Chapter 12).
The Comprehensive Plan runs on a three-year cycle, and Centennial’s 2020-23 Comprehensive Plan is due for renewal this Fall, 2023. In June of 2022, Centennial put together a Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee comprised of faculty, staff, administration, students, parents, community members, and community partners, and began working on the plan. The main Steering Committee, as well as several subcommittees, worked throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2022 to complete the Comprehensive Plan and the Pennsylvania Department of Education State Required Reports due this Fall.
As part of the 28-day review requirement, embedded in this Thoughtexchange for feedback is a 1-page overview highlighting the key aspects of our Comprehensive Plan, a draft of our full Comprehensive Plan, a draft of our Induction Plan (Chapter 49), a draft of our Professional Development Plan (Act 48), and a draft of our Gifted Education Plan Assurances (Chapter 16).
In a continued effort to be transparent, inclusive, and informed, we are asking that you please take a few minutes and visit the following Thoughtexchange to provide your feedback on these documents.
