We've had a busy September in the LRC! We've enjoyed having classes coming in for lessons and book check out on a weekly basis. We've loved hearing from students about what their favorite books are and learning what students' SMART goals are. Every student in grades 2- 5 have used the same template to set a SMART for their volume of reading. First graders are using their reading mats to help them set their own reading goals on a daily basis during their reading workshop. I'm excited to see how many students reach their goals by October 31st!
We are now moving on to teaching students how to use the library, since we have just about all books shelved! Mrs. Bauer and I are working on processing some new books to put out on the shelves in the coming weeks and making the library easier to find books in. Keep your eyes peeled for a color coded organization system coming soon. Students with Chromebooks will also be learning to use Destiny, our online collection management system where they can see what books they have checked out, how they can "favorite" books, and how they can get personalized suggestions just for them!
