A Note From Dr. Hooks
Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
Thank you to all of the families who engaged and collaborated with our instructional team, for Parent Teacher Conferences. Your support and involvement is truly appreciated.
As a reminder, please join Hyde-Addison ES in our efforts to collect over 1,500 pairs of brand-new socks for individuals in need. Last year, we collected over 1,400 pairs of socks. With a week to go, we have currently collected 456 pairs of new socks.
As always, please feel free to email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov, with any school specific inquiries.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. Calvin Hooks, Principal
Hyde-Addison Elementary School

eWallet for Scholastic Book Fair
What is an eWallet?: Kids shop without cash thanks to eWallet, a digital payment account for purchases at the Fair. Family and friends contribute funds. Then kids choose their own books. It’s convenient, simple, and secure. More info can be found at: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/content/fairs/hub/videos/ewallet.html
How do I create an eWallet?: It starts on your school’s Book Fair homepage: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/hydeelementary. Follow the link to create a free eWallet account. Watch this short video to learn more about how to create your own eWallet: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/content/fairs/hub/videos/ewallet.html
How do I fund the account? Add money with a credit card, use funds from a previous eWallet, or invite friends and extended family to contribute.
What happens if I don’t spend all the money in my account? Use leftover funds to shop online with Scholastic or fund an eWallet for a future Book Fair.
Will there be a future book fair at Hyde-Addison Elementary? YES! We are scheduled to host an end of school yearbook fair from May 31 to June 7. Summer reading YAY!
Can I use cash at the fair? YES!
Can I use other credit/debit cards at the fair? YES!
I have more questions, who can I contact? Marie Connolly, our school librarian at marie.connolly@k12.dc.gov

Movie Night!
Help Us Reach Our Fundraising Goal by October 31!
Thanks to everyone who has already participated in this year's Great Envelope Race, the PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year. To date, we have raised 60% of our goal of $50,000, with 16% participation by October 31. Help us bridge the gap between the school's operating budget and the funds provided by DCPS by donating to the Great Envelope Race today.
- Pick up a blue envelope in the main office and return it to your teacher or the main office with whatever amount you choose enclosed.
- Or make your donation online, either one-time at www.hydegift.com or recurring at www.hydemonthlygift.com.
- Ask family members like grandparents and neighbors to participate too!
While the suggested donation is $400 per student, all donations are appreciated and every dollar helps us provide things like books, curriculum materials and supplies, field trip scholarships, and professional development for Hyde-Addison's incredible teachers and staff.
