
CRJH Band End of Year Newsletter
Here's what you need to know...
CHECK IN/OUT PROCEDURE
School Owned Instrument CHECK IN/OUT
Students RETURNING to CRJH BAND in the fall:
- Students will keep their instrument over the summer. If your instrument is in need of repairs, please email Rachellemisaason@katyisd.org with further instruction on how to have those needs addressed.
Students GRADUATING to OTHS or CRHS BAND in the fall:
- You may keep your instrument over the summer if you would like. If you do not need the instrument, please check it in as described below. This instrument will be turned into the CRHS or OTHS band directors on Aug. 1st.
Students NOT RETURNING to CRJH and/or BAND in the fall:
- Your instrument and all of its accessories (mouthpieces, ligatures, neck straps, bocals, etc.) must be returned before May 18th. You will need to drop the instrument and supplies off in the designated area in the CRJH fine arts wing. You will need to sign up on the school-wide form to have access to the building.
- At drop off: Scan the QR Code and fill out the form. You will be asked to take 2 pictures of the instrument when you turn it in. Please remember that any damages, dents, or negligence to the instrument will be charged to the student.
UNIFORM CHECK IN
GIRLS DRESSES: We will NOT be requiring these to be turned in. These dresses were going to be phased out for next year, so please do not turn it in. You may donate it or keep it for future use.
BOYS VESTS & TIES: These will need to be returned to CRJH.
- There will be a uniform bin in the fine arts hallways for you to drop these off.
- Vests that are lost or damaged will cost $30 to replace. If you know you need to pay for the replacement, please put money in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, and drop it in the Coyote Band Box next to the bins. Checks payable to CRJH Band
- If you happen to have kept a tie on accident, these can be returned in the same uniform bin.
UNIFORM DONATIONS: 8th grade boys that would like to donate their uniform pants and shirts may also place these items in the UNIFORM DONATION bin.

Please join us for our Awards Ceremony on May 4th at 3pm on ZOOM!
End of Year Auditions and Placements
These will happen in 2 parts and submitted on CANVAS. Specific instructions and copies of the music can be found in CANVAS under MODULES.
May 4-6th – Scale project VIDEO submissions (Minor Grade)
Students will submit video recordings of them playing 3 scales (Concert G, Concert Eb, and Concert C) and upload these to the canvas quiz. Each scale will be recorded in a separate video.
May 11th-13th- Audition Etude VIDEO submission (Major Grade)
Students will submit 1-3 recordings of the audition etude. Everyone is required to play at least the THEME & VARIATION, but bonus points will be awarded to students that perform additional variations. Each variation will be recorded in a separate video.
