"Stepping Stone to a Bright Future"
Mission Statement
We will prepare responsible citizens who are self-directed toward productive goals and capable of adapting to a global society. This will be accomplished by providing a competent creative staff and a challenging, relevant curriculum in an environment conducive to learning.
Academy Highlights
The career academies of Ben C. Rain High School provide students with the foundational academic and social skills necessary to be successful in a college or workplace setting. Participating students receive real-world, firsthand learning experiences that expose various career fields and the skills used within the area of focus. In addition, academies allow students to engage in field trips, mock interviews, job shadowing, and internships.
Signature Academy of Aviation & Aerospace Technology
Coastal Alabama Community College provides college credit opportunities to eligible high school students. This policy allows high school students to enroll in college classes concurrently with high school classes, and to receive both high school and college credit where appropriate. Students are able to take dual enrollment aviation courses in our signature academy.
Aircraft Sheet Metal students Jonathan Dillard, Jonathan Taylor and Samiya Jordan are working on their projects.
Mr. Booze observes Knovo Bailey as he makes adjustments to the stabilator. A stabilator is a fully movable aircraft horizontal stabilizer. It serves the usual functions of longitudinal stability, control and stick force requirements otherwise performed by the separate parts of a conventional horizontal stabilizer (which is fixed) and elevator (which is adjustable). Apart from reduced drag, it is a useful device for changing the aircraft balance within wide limits, and for reducing stick forces.
Leadership Academy (JROTC)
Our awesome color guard team, Zanquel Peters, Marla Williams, Sylena Carmichael and NyTyra Duncan posted the colors for a citizenship ceremony at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Mobile. After posting the colors, the cadets were able to watch the ceremony as 31 immigrants became official U.S. citizens!
On a recent visit to Pillans, our JROTC students were able to assist, and train the Pillans students over basic drill commands, and basic marching.
Health Sciences Academy
The health science students performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), assisted a patient into the bedside chair, and other students took vital signs. The students pictured are Jaden Gentle, Cordairo Dixon, Carleshia Philips, Takaya Burage-Adams and Najah Dortch.
Information Technology Academy (Business Administration & Marketing)
On Tuesday, August 29th, Mr. Darrell Randle, Vice President of Small Business Development with the Mobile Chamber came to visit the business classes. Mr. Randle shared information about starting a business and what it takes to run a business. He also talked to the students about the importance of budgeting, the collaboration of business and community economic development leaders and how they help to grow our area’s economy.
Students in Mrs. Thomas's business classes created PowerPoints and did class presentations. These students presented ways they can help make the world a better place. The presentations were amazing and the biggest way these students want to make a difference is by helping others, being positive and showing unity.
The graphics for the week of September 11th was a student submission, created by Antonio Williams, Senior Scholar Athlete, member of Ben C. Rain's Marketing Program, and Vice President of Communication for our DECA Chapter.
