I hope everyone had an excellent summer and that you all found time to do all of the things you enjoy! I am very excited for the 2022-2023 school year with you and your children. LEE is an amazing school and we are so fortunate to have an outstanding staff and such supportive families!

Below you will find some important information regarding Back to School Night, the first day of school, communication at LEE, Eagle's Nest and Nutritional Services. You will also find links for the 2022-2023 academic calendar, and school supplies.

The iPad Damage Optional Insurance program is designed to help offset the costs of a lost or damaged iPad to families.

The LTP Student iPad Insurance window for the 2022-2023 school year opens August 1st and closes on September 15th. Parents who wish to join the insurance pool for this year will need to make at least a partial payment within this window. Please note that any student with an unpaid balance for iPad insurance from the previous year will not be eligible to join the pool this year until they pay off the previous year’s balance.

Class lists will be posted by the front door at 3:00pm on Friday, August, 12th. The teachers spend many hours and go to great lengths to find a good balance for classroom make-up. They take into consideration the Parent Survey that was filled out in the spring. Therefore, students will not be switched to different classrooms.

Kindergarten families will be contacted by teachers on Wednesday, August 17th or Thursday, August 18th.

Back-to-School Night will be held outside on Monday, August 15th, from 5:30pm -6:30 pm. Once again this year, we will be doing a scavenger hunt. Please meet us on the blacktop near the basketball court to receive your scavenger hunt form and map of activities. Come meet your child's teacher, find out ways to support our school, complete a fun activity, enjoy a popsicle and say “Hi” to friends old and new! At 6:20pm, we will gather at the school bell at the front of the building to ring in the new year! All grade levels are invited to attend!

WHAT TO BRING

• Students in grades 1st-5th, please bring your school supplies to drop off. Please make sure that backpacks are clearly marked with the student's name, grade level and teacher. We will have labeled bins near the bike racks to drop off materials. Students in Preschool and Kindergarten, please bring your supplies on your scheduled orientation day.
• Bring your King Soopers loyalty card. PTO will help you set it up so that you can help our school earn money.
• Unlike in previous years, materials fees will be collected in September. We will not be collecting money at Back-to-School Night.

The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 17th for 1st-5th grades. The school day at LEE is 8:20am to 3:00pm. Students are expected to be at school on time. Our first bell rings at 8:20am and the tardy bell rings at 8:25am. Due to supervision and safety reasons, students should not be dropped off before 8:10am. St. Vrain Valley School District has an attendance policy that LEE strongly follows. Please click here to familiarize yourself with this policy.

Kindergartners DO NOT start classes until Friday, August 19th. All kindergarten families will be contacted to come in for assessments on either August 15th or 16th. If you have not been contacted about an assigned day/time by Friday, August 12th, please contact the office. Please make sure that all registration documentation has been turned in. If you have you have questions about what documentation is needed, or you are unsure if you have completed this, please contact Nicole Lee in the front office.

Preschoolers DO NOT start classes until Monday, August 22nd. All preschool families will be contacted to come in for orientation on August 18th. Please click here for a list of items your student will need to bring to school. Since items on the supply list are for individual student use only, please mark your child's supplies with their name, both first and last.

If you are concerned about being able to buy school supplies for your children this fall, Crayons to Calculators is here to help! Crayons to Calculators, a collaboration among area non-profit organizations, is a community-wide school supply drive for students in need. Crayons to Calculators is focused on ensuring that all students in St. Vrain Valley public schools begin school with the supplies they need to succeed.

Longmont Estates will be receiving our backpacks on Thursday, August 11th. Backpacks are available on a first come, first served basis.

We believe that communication between school and home fosters the partnership vital to the success of our students. To support this belief, we use numerous methods to keep lines of communication open, including, but not limited to:

LEE also has a Principal Facebook page to help with communicating important dates, student/staff celebrations, and fun things happening at the school. Please “like” the “Longmont Estates Elementary Page” to get frequent updates.

To ensure that you receive all communication from LEE, please inform the office of any changes in address, email or phone number throughout the year.

The purpose of Eagle’s Nest before and after school child care program is to offer quality care within the school building. Eagle’s Nest is held in the Longmont Estates Elementary School cafeteria and gym. Our program provides a safe, structured and positive environment that supports student growth in a creative and structured environment.

At Longmont Estates, we recognize the importance of providing a quality, nurturing child care experience for your children. We realize that parents are looking for opportunities for their children to learn and play in a safe and welcoming environment. Eagle’s Nest is licensed through the Colorado Department of Human Services for children ages 5-12.

We are open from 7:00-8:20am before school and then again from 3:00-6:00pm after school.

UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS HAVE EXPIRED FOR THE 22/23 SCHOOL YEAR. Upon the start of the school year, students will be charged for breakfast and lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals. We are encouraging families to apply for meal benefits for the 2022–2023 school year (before August 16th, 2022) to ensure negative balances do not accrue on students’ accounts.

• A new application must be completed each school year, available after July 1st of each year. Families are responsible for any charges that accrue anytime between benefit status lapses.
  
• Applying online is the fastest way to get your application processed to ensure no lapse in coverage happens. Applying online also reduces the chance for errors and the need to send applications back to families to correct.
  
• I don’t qualify for free or reduced priced meals, do I need to do anything? If you do not believe you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please make sure that there is money on your students’ accounts. You can add money to their account through MySchoolBucks.

Transportation is available for elementary students living 1-1/2 miles or more from their school of attendance, and for secondary students living 2-1/2 miles or more from their school of attendance. Learn more about eligibility requirements by watching this welcome back video.

If you are eligible to have your child ride the bus during the 2022-2023 school year, please apply for transportation services as soon as possible. We will make every effort to accommodate as many eligible riders as possible. Apply for transportation services online.
