Read Across America Day
Kindergarten to 5th grade students will be celebrating Read Across America Day on March 2 and 3. All students will celebrate on their English day! Students will have the opportunity to choose a book that represents their culture or family history. They can dress up as a person from that book and if possible donate a copy of the book to their classroom library.
We hope to add additional books to the classroom libraries so they can be even more robust and reflective of our diverse community. Reading diverse and inclusive books in the coming weeks might help your student discover a character with whom they identify. You might even find one here on Read Across America's calendar for the year. Looking for even more diverse books? Click here.
Annual Fund - we're almost there!
Help GLOBE get to its goal of $150,000, we are so close! Any amount of giving counts. Funds are used to help the student body and teachers. Click here to donate. For further information about the Annual Fund, click here.

Campus notes
Lower Campus:
Black History Month
We are having fun celebrating Black History Month. Check out some of the amazing artwork/door decorations at LC (see images below). We are also having read-alouds and fun facts during morning announcements.
On Friday's throughout February we are asking the GLOBE community to wear red, green, yellow, black, or a Black-history themed t-shirt.
In Kindergarten science, students are learning about living and non-living things. 1st grade students completed a magnetic experiment last rotation and are now exploring the two forces magnets exert. 2nd grade students are learning about the life cycle of the butterfly and other insects. In 3rd grade, students will be assessed on minerals and rocks, so we are ready to move on to the fossils unit after our field trip to Tellus Museum on February 14.
Reminder, please don’t forget to send back paper copies of the permission slip and submit your payments in MyPaymentsPlus by Friday.
Upper Campus:
4th grade French Canadian Language Partners
We are pleased to share some pictures of students sending messages to their Canadian language partners in Ms. Lindow's 4th grade class.

Athletics
Check out those trophies!
As a result of all the hard work and success of our amazing young athletes here at GLOBE, we found ourselves with a delightful problem, where to put all the trophies? We are pleased to reveal GLOBE’s new trophy cabinet, which takes pride of place in the lobby, right outside the auditorium at UC. Thank you to our GLOBE families, volunteers and athletes for such a successful winter sports season.
Girls basketball final
The girls basketball team put in an incredible performance at the MAAC championship final. It was a very intense and entertaining game. The 'Owls' evenly matched the 'Panthers' for the duration of the game. It wasn't until the last few minutes of overtime when the 'Panthers' nudged ahead to win. The GLOBE cheerleading team also put in a superb performance at the game, rallying the team. The game can be viewed on GLOBE's YouTube channel, here.
