The Great Kindness Challenge
The Great Kindness Challenge was a huge success. The feedback from parents, students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive. In our school we recorded at least 3,172 acts of kindness during the week of the event and submitted 320 kindhearted hands to the Guinness Book of World Records challenge. Overall, over 2,188,669 students across the world inspired 109, 344,450 acts of kindness! See the pictures above and below of our school-wide kindness week celebration.
February Listening Lessons - Shhhhh, did you hear that?
In the Lower Elementary classes we worked on our listening skills by playing a Valentine version of "I Have, Who Has" after reviewing why it is important to be a good listener. We remembered that if we want to get better at something, like listening, we need to practice to grow those pathways in our brain. Our ending yoga cards included loosen the knots, rag doll, and count down to calm.
In the Upper Elementary classes our listening activity included a story about camp where the students practice listening while moving their pencils on a coordinate grid and drawing simple, yet detailed pictures. If we had time, we also played "I Have, Who Has" with math or analogies. We have superb listeners! I think our 5th grade students are excited about their camp adventure in the mountains.
