K-12 Students and Delran Green Team Members work on a Clean Community Grant in Delran Township

On April 6th, a day which would have been a part of Spring Break for Delran students, over 300 children and Green Team leaders from Delran collaborated to clean their school grounds and local area parks and businesses. At the start of each of the four cleanups, education about safety, including plants and ticks occurred. Then, in teams of three, the children went out to clean their town! In total, the teams collected 83 bags of trash and 16 bags of recycling. What a day!

DMS Students Travel to the Sites

The DMS Green Team started at 9am and cleaned two areas; Green Acres Park and behind the 711 in Delran. With 32 students and staff, they collected over 23 bags of trash and 2 bags of recycling.

Delran Township Green Team Supports

Members of the Green Team worked with the Township to obtain the Clean Communities Grant which supported the purchase of gloves and bags for the clean up. Mr. Al Carp attended all four cleanups and made the deliveries for the team to every school.

DHS Students Volunteer After School

High school students cleaned up after school finished today. They collected 9 bags of trash and 4 bags of recycling near the parking area alone. The students worked hard for over an hour to get every bottle from the woods.

DIS Students Clean Their School and the Local Graveyard from Trash

Almost 70 students volunteered on this windy day to clean their school and the local historic cemetery. The Delran Historical Society drove by the graveyard and applauded the efforts of the students and staff.

All four Delran Schools and the Delran Community Green Team are Bronze level certified in the Sustainable Jersey for Schools program.
