November 8, 2018 Creating Joyful Leaders and Learners
A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:
As we begin the second nine weeks, we look forward to many anticipated events at Pontiac Elementary School. We celebrate American Education Week November 12-16. Consider visiting your child’s classroom this week to see what your student’s day is like at PES! We look forward to your visit during American Education Week!
We hope you will join us for several events we have planned!
On the morning of Tuesday, November 13, at 7:30am, I invite you to join me us for Habits and Hashbrowns. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about the 7 Habits from Leader in Me. Our student leaders and Community Action Team will provide a brief presentation to you. Ask questions! Share joy! Tell us ideas you might have! We look forward to this time with you!
On Thursday, November 15, we invite you to join us for our School Improvement Council meeting at 7:45am. This is a great way to get involved in our school. We meet once a month with our SIC.
Our first Skate Night is at 6pm on Thursday evening, November 15. The funds we receive from participation at this event will support scholarships for highschool seniors in our district.
We appreciate our PTO for celebrating teachers during American Education Week! PTO is providing a delicious lunch for teachers on Friday, November 16 to wrap up this special week. Please consider donating a dessert for this staff lunch. PTO representatives will receive these in the car rider line on the morning of November 16.
Thanksgiving holidays begin on November 21 and we wish all of our students and their families a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving. Students return to school on Monday, November 26.
Parents, we encourage you to be involved at Pontiac!

PTO News
American Education Week is November 12-16. As part of the activities Pontiac holds this week, PTO has traditionally held a luncheon for our teachers and staff. PTO will be sponsoring the main entree, but we would like to ask our parents and families to donate desserts to be enjoyed after the meal.
PTO representatives will be in the morning carline on Friday, November 16 to collect desserts. You can also drop off any desserts at the front desk the morning of November 16th.
Thank you for your continued support of Pontiac and PTO.
