The Scholastic Book Fair is coming!
Dear Parents and Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Eames Way School (YAY!).
Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers, AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from December 5th- 9th in the Becky Shiaris Library at EWS:
This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy. (We are still accepting cash and credit cards.)
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair (12/2/22-12/14/22.) All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
CLICK the red Book Fair Homepage button above this notice to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping!
The countdown to more Bookjoy is on! Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading,
Mrs. Clancy

How to Participate:
There are two ways to enter.
1. Go to
https://app.99pledges.com/fund/eameswaypto
Click on “add participant” at the bottom of the page. Then choose your teacher’s name as your group.
Invite friends and family to sponsor you. Log your
minutes read through the website.
2. Use the reading log and envelope provided to track your minutes and collect cash/checks from your sponsors. Pledges are due on December 15th.
Getting Pledges:
Students are asked to try to get 3-5 sponsors each. Sponsors can make a flat donation or pledge a certain amount per minute read. Payment can be made by cash or check (made out to the Eames Way PTO). Students using the 99 Pledges
website have the option of paying by credit card.
EX: A friend or relative can pledge 10 cents for each minute read. If you read for 10 minutes each day for 10 days (100 minutes) that sponsor donates $10. FYI...Younger
students can have a book read to them to earn their minutes.

December 15th: All pledges are due.

With the change in the weather as we enter the winter months, we will see an increase in the number of respiratory viruses. Here are a few tips to stay healthy and stop the spread.
Practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, cover them with an elbow, not a hand.
Clean high-touch surfaces in your home frequently with household disinfectants.
Keep your child home from school if they have a fever, especially in combination with a cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, congestion, runny nose, or sore throat. They should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
Avoid social gatherings if you or your children are ill.
Absences: Upon returning to school after any absence, a child is required to have a note from a parent/guardian. A doctor’s note is required if a student is out five (5) or more consecutive days. If an absence is due to a communicable disease or a bone fracture, a doctor’s note is required the day the student returns to school. To assist us in providing the best possible care for your child, please keep your school nurse informed of any illness or injury via a written note which should include any recess limitations.
Annual Screenings: Hearing and vision screenings will take place and progress through the month of November. If it is recommended that your child needs to be referred for further vision or hearing assessment, you will be contacted by the school nurse.
Snacks and Water Bottles: Please remember to send your child to school each day with a healthy snack and a refillable water bottle.
Physical Exams: If you have a child in Preschool, Kindergarten, or fourth grade and have not sent in an updated physical exam, please do so as soon as possible. You can send the updated physical form in your child’s backpack, email it to the school nurse at awhite@mpsd.org, or ask the pediatrician to fax the most recent physical to 781-834-5094.
Thank you!
Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
