A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
Each year, New Hampshire schools take part in the State and National Teacher of the Year Program. Please help us spread the word about the 2024 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year Program by posting the attached flyer.
Anyone can nominate an outstanding teacher by using this link on or before Feb. 5, 2023. Teachers may also self-apply by downloading an application here. Applications are due to the New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) no later than March 20, 2023. All nominees that complete an application will be honored at a ceremony this spring.
The Teacher of the Year Program does not attempt to single out any individual as the best teacher in New Hampshire, but rather to honor one teacher who represents all the excellent teachers in our state. The purpose of the program is to select a teacher who can speak for and bring energy to the teaching profession. Our Teacher of the Year serves as a leader and ambassador for all the outstanding teachers devoted to the highest level of student learning. A Teacher of the Year candidate should be an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled classroom teacher from any state-approved or accredited school, pre-kindergarten through grade 12, certified in the state, demonstrates leadership, and intends to continue in the teaching profession. Selecting a Teacher of the Year is an exceptional way to celebrate the many outstanding and dedicated people teaching in New Hampshire schools.
The 2024 NH Teacher of the Year will automatically be part of the National Teacher of the Year Program, a project of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) in partnership with the Voya Foundation. The National Teacher of the Year Program began in 1952 and focuses public attention on excellence in teaching. It is the oldest, most prestigious national honors program for the teaching profession. It is the mission of the National Teacher of the Year Program to honor our nation’s greatest teachers while providing rigorous professional learning for them as teachers and advocates.
If you have any questions, please contact Stacey MacStravic, Recognition and Award Programs Coordinator by calling (603) 271-3293 or e-mailing stacey.a.macstravic1@doe.nh.gov.

other students. If there is a particular need for a child to have a cell phone please call
the principal to make arrangements. Please see the section on “TELEPHONE”.
Note: This includes Smart Watches. We do allow phones to be in backpacks and not be seen during the school day but Smart Watches are an electronic device.

If you would like to opt out of your child's picture being used in Rye 400 work, please contact the office.
