Clearly Essential
Hello, Fall ...
Like Anne of Green Gables, I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. Evenings are getting cooler, and leaves are starting to change colors in North Carolina. With changing weather come autumn allergies for some, and I'm already hearing about contagious sicknesses making their rounds through schools and churches in our area. People's schedules are also shifting into busier times with sports and other extracurricular activities for kids, and we are planning holiday travel and festivities. This time of year is beautiful but also brings additional stress, energy depletion, and plentiful threats to immune systems. I'm grateful for essential oils and other natural supports for our bodies and minds because they help us enjoy the season more and offer the same help to others. I'm also thankful that dōTERRA has pulled out all the stops this month with great promotions, new products, and fantastic educational opportunities. Read on to learn more, find great recipes, and see whether you want to save the dates of our upcoming Triad and online classes. I hope you find the solutions you need on your wellness journey, and I'm honored to be a part of your support team.
In health,
Crystal

BLUE TENSION BALM
RECIPE
- 2 oz white beeswax
- 1 oz shea butter
- 2 oz apricot seed oil (or another carrier oil)
- 5 drops Vitamin E oil
- 35 drops Lavender essential oil
- 25 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
- 25 drops Peppermint essential oil
- 12 drops Marjoram essential oil
- 12 drops Copaiba essential oil
- 10 drops Frankincense essential oil
- 8 drops Blue Tansy essential oil
- 6 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil
- 5 drops Helichrysum essential oil
In a double broiler, melt the beeswax, shea butter, and carrier oil. Remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly. Add Essential Oils and Vitamin E oil. Allow to solidify. This will be a thick balm. Massage into sore, achy joints and muscles. Great for reducing nerve excitability, too.
Reduce Sad Feelings with Linalool and beta-Pinene
Many essential oils high in linalool and beta-pinene are well known for their ability to reduce sad and anxious feelings. Lavender and Clary Sage have high amounts of linalool, while Lemon, Lime, and White Fir/Siberian Fir have high amounts of beta-pinene. Scientists in Mexico City published their findings in June 2015 that both linalool and beta-pinene affect the monoaminergic system of the brain, which includes such well-known neurotransmitters as serotonin and dopamine, and the adrenaline/noradrenaline adrenergic system.
Both linalool and beta-pinene act on multiple receptors of the monoaminergic system. Because multiple receptors are targeted, the effects of linalool and beta-pinene are more potent and long lasting than molecules that target only one receptor. Linalool and beta-pinene support brain chemistry balance in these receptors, which has the effect of reducing sad feelings.
