Every child should have a pair of headphones that they can use for testing. Must be corded. No bluetooth, iPods, etc. Check in with your child's teacher to see that they have one. When you do bring one, put it in a ziploc bag with your child's name on it.

We found out that Alaska Native Cultural Charter School is a Community Eligible Provisional (CEP) school. This means that the school is able to Feed all students that attend for free and therefore student nutrition would NOT need our families to fill out the application as thought from the letter shared.

On Oct. 24th we'll be doing school picture retakes here at ANCCS. If you missed out on our initial picture day or would like to have your kids picture redone, Monday Oct. 24th is your opportunity to do so.

The Conference Scheduler will be open and links available to parents on Monday, October 10th - Tuesday, October 25th.

If any parents need help resetting their password, you may go to your Parent Connection and Reset Your Password. The reset password also provides the PIN in addition to a temporary password.

If you do not have access to the web, you may call the school or your student’s teacher to schedule a conference time.

Just a friendly reminder that from this point onward, if you would like to pick up your child early from school it will be necessary to come into the office and sign them out. We will not be able to pull your kid from class until you arrive, so please plan accordingly. Also, keep in mind that East High gets out at 2pm and it's a little hectic out there around that time. There will be no early dismissal after 3:15.

With the departure of our 21st Century leader, ANCCS is looking into after school alternatives for our students. One of those suggested was the Boys and Girls Club in Mountain View. If we can generate enough interest they said they would be able to provide transportation. Below is a link to their registration form. Once registered, please let us know so that we know how many of our students could potentially be going.

Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.

ANCCS has created a Ride Share group on our Facebook page. To join, find Alaska Native Cultural Charter School on Facebook and click "join group". This is a group for parents to find rides or other parents willing to carpool. ANCCS is not responsible for organizing rides.

I am so enjoying our students who have returned to us this year and our students who are new with us this year. Health Screenings are under way. Nurses are mandated to let guardians know of any screenings which are not passing. We check vision, hearing, height, weight and color vision. All students in prek-1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and any students new to district or referred by a teacher with a concern will be screened. I am contacting parents by phone first, email if unable to reach and paperwork sent home for families I cannot reach by phone or email. Please make sure current contact information is on file with our front office.

If your student has outgrown any pull-on pants (sweatpants, leggings or running pants) in good condition, the nurse's office can use them. We've had a lot of rain, and a lot of wet, allowing for slips at recess and soaked kids. If I do not have correct clothing when kids are in need, you may get a call about needing clothes at school.

Lastly, as recess gets colder, please make sure kids are dressed appropriately for colder weather. I do not have many gloves or snowpants this year and we are outside unless temps are BELOW -10. Please label, label, label your students name on any outdoor gear. It's so much easier for us to find the owners.
