WRMS Weekly Update

On Friday, June 12th, students can pick up their remaining locker items and drop-off textbooks, books, instruments, or other borrowed materials. Please read the information below carefully.

6th Grade:

- 2nd Avenue Cul-de-Sac

- Team 6A: 9-11 AM

- Team 6B: 12-2 PM

7th grade:

- A Field Parking Lot

- Team 7A: 9-11 AM

- Team 7B: 12-2 PM

All instruments will be dropped off in the Bus Loop within the above windows.

All items being dropped off need to be labeled. Textbooks should have your child's name written where indicated on inside front cover. Other materials should be labeled with a post-it or other means as well. If your student brought home his/her lock, it should be kept home for next year. Students will be keeping their Chromebooks over the summer. If you were unable to pick up your child's medication last week, it will be available as well.

Please have a sign in your window with your child's name on it and read the signs carefully when you arrive. We will come to your passenger car window, with gloves and masks, to take the items and give you what may still be in your child's locker. We are asking that everyone stay in their vehicles and please wear a mask when we come to your car.

Congratulations to Mrs. Penn and the District nurses for achieving recognition from the NJ Department of Health as one of their 23 honorees for the Influenza Honor Roll. They achieved this though raising awareness, implementing a vaccination program, and promoting safe environments in the school setting. Well done!

The Board of Education approved applying the unused snow days to the end of the year in lieu of around Memorial Day weekend. Therefore, June 12 will be the last day of school for students. More information is coming regarding dropping off and picking up remaining items, but please save the date of June 12th for this to occur (Students will be keeping their Chromebooks over ths summer).

Also, the Board approved the following changes to the school days for 2020-2021:

K-5: 8:50 - 3:20 (regular day)/ 10:20 - 3:20 (90 minute delay)/ 8:50 - 12:50 (early dismissal)

6-8: 8:15 - 3:04 / 9:45 - 3:04 / 8:15 - 12:36

9-12: 7:55 - 2:44 / 9:25 - 2:44 / 7:55 - 12:11

Please see the attached letter regarding immunizations required for entry into 6th grade. Feel free to contact Mrs. Debbie Penn, the Middle School Nurse, with any questions.

With support from the NJ Department of Agriculture, the school district is allowed to provide breakfast and lunch free of charge to all students enrolled in the school.

We currently offer meals for pick up between the hours of 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at two school locations:

• Berkeley Elementary School - 47 Berkeley Ave Westwood, NJ
• Brookside Elementary School - 20 Lake Drive Westwood, NJ

Box Tops!

Download the new Box Tops app and keep earning for our school! While you will be able to clip and send them in the traditional way while products remain on store shelves, earning 10 cents for the school with each Box Top you send in (and these really add up!), we will be shifting toward individual online submission and an all-school goal. Please download the app and, you’ll simply need to scan your receipt and all such items will be recorded—with just one scan. Scanning these receipts also gets us entered in contests that win bonus Box Tops for our school!

Additionally, Comfort Zone, a camp for kids and young adults who have suffered the death of a parent, sibling or legal guardian, is offering a FREE virtual COVID-19 camp for youth ages 13-25 on May 30th.There will also be a parent/guardian program taking place simultaneously for those whose child(ren) are participating in the program.
