DELRAN HIGH SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT
Delran High School, an inclusive learning community, provides educational opportunities for intellectual development while valuing the importance of cultural diversity and tradition.
A Message from Mr. Finkle!
Well hello DHS Community!
As I sit to write this, I am thinking about how proud I am of the DHS community! As Dr. Brotschul said, the number of cases within Delran Township have increased and we here at DHS have been affected; however, I am so pleased that we have had zero transmission of the virus within the walls of DHS or on the sporting fields. All transmission that has forced DHS to go remote for 2 weeks and has led to the quarantining of multiple students has occurred at home or within the community. I cannot stress enough how important it is to social distance, practice good hand hygiene, and wear masks. I appreciate everyone's adherence to these recommendations as that will keep everyone within the community safe.
Dr. Brotschul also mentioned that at any time, we as a school could switch to remote learning. If we do, we will continue to use the schedule that was used earlier in October. All students will be in class from 7:30 - 12:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Students are to continue to work after 12:00 until 2:30 on their work! IT IS NOT a half-day of school, just a half-day for live instruction. In the afternoon, teachers will host office hours. The teachers have the choice to keep them as open office hours or to schedule individual students for remediation and extra support. These sessions may be mandatory for your child, as our goal will be to give support to struggling learners and work together to be successful. Wednesday check-ins remain the same.
As the holiday's are nearing, I understand that many travel to relatives outside of New Jersey. Please communicate with either an Assistant Principal or me as to any travel plans to a state that is listed on the NJ Travel Advisory List. Your child will continue to be educated during the quarantine; however, it must be done in a remote setting.
As Dr. Brotschul also mentioned, parents who wish to have their child change cohorts have that ability at the close of each marking period. I will need an email from a parent by Sunday, November 7th if you wish to have your child change from Remote to Hybrid or Hybrid to Remote. All changes will be made on Wednesday, November 11th and will take effect on Thursday, November 12th. If you have already emailed me, it is not necessary to do so again.
Just a friendly reminder that we will be closed for the NJEA Convention tomorrow, Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th. Enjoy the long weekend!
Marking Period 1 Grades
Today is the final day of the First Marking Period! Grades will be posted on Wednesday, November 11th. In addition, we will be sending home report cards for every student. Please look for them in the mail towards the end of next week or early the following week.
Delran Township Schools One-to-One Initiative
At this time, all students should have received a Chromebook for school use. It is also necessary for parents to complete the sign-off on policies on FamilyID. HERE is a link to the program. Please have this completed by Sunday, November 15th!!!
Remote Student Materials Pick-Up
If your child is a remote student and you have not picked up their Chromebook or supplies, please come to the main office during school hours. The Chromebooks are accompanied by a carrying/protective case and a charger. It is imperative that students bring their Chromebook to school EVERY DAY and that it is fully charged. DHS will NOT have charging stations and the use of the Chromebooks are imperative for each of your child's classes.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me at dfinkle@delranschools.org or (856) 461-6100 x3005.

Naviance is a web-based tool that allows your student to explore their values, personality, strengths and correlate them to career clusters. It directs them to colleges with suggested majors so that they can build a list of colleges to explore.
Seniors and Juniors can see upcoming college visitations and request to attend directly in Naviance.
All students should be building their personal activity resume.
Ask your student to share with you what they are doing in Naviance.

ATHLETIC NEWS
Mr. Guidotti's Update
We have entered the last two weeks of the Fall regular season and every team has made the Delran community very proud. Thank you to everyone for your patience, flexibility and understanding during this time of uncertainty. We will get through this difficult time if we follow the guidelines of the CDC and the Department of Health.
The Girls’ Tennis Team finished off their season with their best match of the season at Palmyra. It was a difficult season but the Lady Bears improved with every match and always had a smile on their faces. DHS is proud of their hard work.
Members of the Boys’ and Girls’ Cross-country Teams competed at the Burlington County Open at the RV Sports Complex in Eastampton last weekend. Each of the runners earned fast times and continue to improve. Their last batch meet is this Thursday, November 5th at Moorestown. The Lady Bears start at 9am and the Bears at 10am. Junior Varsity runners will compete in between the varsity races. Sectionals will take place on Saturday, November 14th in Jamesburg at Thompson Park.
The Football Team earned a convincing victory over Pemberton on Friday night. The team has improved to 3-0 and is being considered as one of the best small school programs in all of South Jersey. Their next opponent is this Friday, November 6th at 6pm at Burlington Township. Reminder that only individuals with tickets are able to attend. Burlington Township is not selling tickets for the event.
The Boys’ Soccer Team earned another victory over a quality program on Friday. The Varsity Team went to Rancocas Valley at pulled out a hard fought 2-1 victory over one of the best programs in South Jersey. The team is undefeated and will look to make noise once again in the Southwest Region that begins on Saturday, November 14th.
The Field Hockey Team battled to the end against two tough teams last week in Burlington Township and Moorestown. The team is improving with each game and having fun being together. Their next game is Friday, November 6th at Bordentown.
The Girls’ Soccer Team continues to impress South Jersey with outstanding performances on the field. The Lady Bears finally got a home game on Tuesday night against Burlington Township. It was an amazing night and it was great to celebrate such a terrific group of seniors. They will all be missed dearly. Their next game is Friday morning vs Bordentown in the den.
The Delran High School Cheerleaders finally got to show the crowd what they have been practicing all Fall. The girls looked great and helped keep the fans excited about the play on the field. The Lady Bears will get two more opportunities to show some Delran pride and help the football team to another victory. Great job ladies!
Due to restrictions from the Governor’s office, limitations on spectators must occur so everyone can remain safe. Masks and Social Distancing must be followed at all times on Delran Township property. At this time, we are not allowing students at contests because of spacing and the inability to maintain social distancing. If the Governor changes any of the restrictions, the Delran community will be notified.
For Varsity Football games home and away, only individuals with special passes will be allowed on the property due to outdoor limitations on attendance by the Governor.
Winter Sports Physicals Due
