Bobcat and Trait Students
Our Bobcat and Responsibility Trait students for the month of September had lunch with me.
We took our traditional walk to the balcony to wave at the students eating lunch in the MPR.
Each student also received a pencil and a pin.
Spirit Week
Spirit week ended on Friday. We did have hat day and crazy
hair day.
The students and staff were very creative in their hat,
and crazy hair choices.
Teacher Conferences
Thanks so much to all of our families for attending conferences.
Your involvement is appreciated. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any other questions or concerns. We have one more afternoon of conferences tomorrow, Thursday.
Trunk or Treat
Thanks so much for all of the candy donations to make our
Trunk or Treat event a success. It will be on Friday from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Remember to park at the Bashas and hop on the bus at the Wells Fargo Bank.
Music Class
As I was visiting Music class this week, I saw some third graders doing a great job of playing the recorder and singing. I am so excited to see the students earning their recorder belts and mastering a variety of songs.
October 31st
Due to our Trunk or Treat Event, we do not wear our Halloween costumes to school on Halloween. Since it is a half day, they can go home and put their costume on for the evening and we wouldn’t want them to lose any parts of their costume. Thanks so much for attending our Trunk or Treat Event on Friday, October 27.
Volunteers
Parent volunteers are always welcome, and you just need to
sign in at the office and turn in your keys, we will need to make a copy of your ID or License on your first visit on campus.
If you have aunts, uncles, friends or grandparents that are not custodial parents, they will need to fill out a volunteer application on the Catalina Foothills School District website.
They will also need to obtain a fingerprint clearance card. We
will then check 3 references, the paperwork will be sent to
our Human Resources Department where they will forward it for Governing Board approval. Once approved you will be able to volunteer here at Ventana Vista. These procedures are only for friends, and non-custodial family members.
Upcoming Kinder Show and Tell
If you are aware of any incoming Kindergarten families for the 2024-2025 school year, please spread the word and have them RSVP through our Ventana Vista Website. They can attend the Show and Tell or sign up for a school tour.
Spanish Corner
This week we will focus on a time honored tradition that is similar to ending a story with "happily ever after..." In many Spanish speaking countries a children's story does not officially end until you say the playful rhyme: Colorín Colorado este cuento se ha acabado (or in some versions - terminado). Translated it means: Colorín (type of bird) colorado
(red) this story has ended.
Listen to award winning bilingual children's author, educator, and recording artist, José-Luis Orozco as he ends (un cuento) a story with, colorín colorado:

You could begin a tradition in your house to end stories this way! Take it a step further and see if your family could come up with another sentence that rhymes with colorado, and acabado to make it your own!
¡Español en la casa hasta la próxima semana!
FFO Corner
Family Event!
Also, we are still collecting candy donations at morning pickup. It’s an easy way to help, just roll down your window and pass your bag of candy to a volunteer - all treat donations are greatly appreciated!
READY TO RUN?
Mileage Club is our Thursday running club. On Thursdays, students join us on the lower field during lunch recess and run laps around the field. Each lap is 1/10 of a mile and as students complete laps they earn charms for their necklace!
This is a huge undertaking - each session, we need 10+ volunteers to scan students as they run laps, manage tokens, ensure safe running, and cheer students on! This is a fun way to spend time with your kid at school! Please join us! All volunteers must sign in at the front office before their session starts.
For more information and to sign up to volunteer, please visit our website at https://www.vvffo.org/event-details/mileage-club-2023-11-02-10-45
