Scottsville's Tuesday Tiger Times
September 19, 2023
"Secure the Building" drill Thursday morning
The first month of school is a time where we talk with students about a variety of drills -- and we practice the most important in building confidence and comfort with a routine -- this includes Fire and Secure the Building.
This Thursday morning we will be holding our first "Secure the Building" drill which is used in the case of a threat outside-the-building. For the drill any students outside will be brought inside and the activities proceed as normal. No one will be allowed in or out of the building until we announce the drill is over.
Don't hesitate to reach out to Principal Wells if you have any questions or concerns..
Back-to-School Night September 26
More details will be sent later this week, but mark your calendars for next Tuesday!
Next Tuesday is Back-to-School Night. Next week we will send out Tiger Times AFTER our Tuesday together with links to information shared.
September is Attendance Awareness Month
We are here to help families build a habit of good attendance early & often. #SchoolEveryDay
A student is considered "chronically" absent when missing over 18 days a year.
We will be reaching out to families who are approaching/ over 5 days out already. A day or two of illness is an excused absence. When in doubt we suggest you call Nurse Viv to ask whether or not to send your child to school.
Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15)
This week Principal Wells is reading a story in Spanish to all K-3 students. Please ask your child what they learned about her, her mother, and the story chosen by their class. Grades 4-5 will choose a story next week.
If any of our Spanish-speaking families want to read to our students, let us know!
