A Note From Principal Jeff Brandt
Hello DHS Families,
It has been a busy last few weeks at DHS! After Christmas Break, the first semester came to a close. The second semester is underway. The registration process is gearing up. With the nice weather that we have been having, it certainly does not feel like the winter sports season! Soon we will be moving into Spring activities, which means music festivals, Drama productions, and spring assessments. I want to encourage you to check your students’ grades and attendance. It is crucial that they get off to a positive start in the new semester.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff! #BeMighty
Jeff Brandt,
Dickinson High School Principal

Students whose appearance interferes with the educational process by drawing undue attention of other students or school personnel, by posing as a potential safety hazard to themselves or others (such as chains), or by being interpreted by school personnel to be offensive in either message that is implied or the parts of the body that are revealed will be asked to change their clothing into something more appropriate or will serve time in in-school suspension. Each violation will be recorded in log entries.
Semester 2 Class Exemptions
FBLA
Dickinson High School’s FBLA Officers were invited to Dickinson Rotary to talk about their organization. FBLA President, Emma Stillings, presented everything that they accomplished this year. She highlighted their Ice Skating Recruitment Party, Nerf Gun Wars Christmas Party, and Fall Leadership Conference. Emma also mentioned that these help build community, collaboration, and networking between the students. Next, Rylee Davis talked about how FBLA has helped her with leadership, speaking, and business skills.
Samantha Ficek talked about FBLA Nationals and all the activities that were included. She also talked, about how she was able to network with other students in the United States, navigate in a big city, and try new things in Atlanta, GA.
Rotary Members were interested in the Dickinson High School/Southwest CTE Business Program. They learned about the classes that were offered and some of the activities. Two activities that was introduced were Market Day and Dickinson Talks. Market Day is when Mrs. Olson’s students sell a product to Dickinson High School students. They can choose their business and can gain profit. Dickinson Talks is a news broadcast that builds communication between students and the school.
They were awarded $2500 from Samsung's Solve Tomorrow’s Contest and were featured in The Dickinson Press and KFYR. In the end, the Dickinson FBLA was able to network with the community and showcase its organization, and its accomplishments.
Peer To Peer
The Peer To Peer class is at it again! This year they are hoping to fundraise enough to support this years Peer To Peer trip to Arizona! They plan on Flying from Bismarck to Arizona in March. They will work with the students on what they will need to pack in a carry on bag for a four day trip. They will also learn and experience what it takes to pass through airport security, as well as navigating through an airport.
When they arrive in Arizona, they will order a Lyft or Uber to get to their destination. For lodging they have reserved two Airbnb's equipped with pools, mini golf, pickle ball, and basketball courts for entertainment!
For meals they plan on taking a trip to the grocery store to do some shopping for food and essentials! The students will learn how to follow recipes and prepare meals for their peers. To fill the rest of their time they are hoping to attend a spring training baseball game. They also plan on arranging a talent show and sing some Karaoke! Most importantly they will be spending some memorable quality time with their friends.
If you would like an opportunity to help this wonderful class out, they will be hosting fundraising events throughout the next month. They will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the Basketball games on Feb 13th as well as Hockey games on Feb 3rd, 8th, 16th, & 20th. The class will be hosting presentations at the Rotary Club and Fire Department.
Follow them on Facebook to find out even more fundraising events! Thank you all for your support!
