Activities to Practice at Home Activities to Practice at Home

Math- Addition and Subtraction Facts 1-20

  • Quiz your students with flashcards (these can be made or purchased).
  • Kaboom- Write equations on popsicle sticks. Players take turns drawing a popsicle stick from the bucket and solve the equation, if they get the correct answer they add it to their own pile. If the player can't solve it or get it incorrect, the stick goes back in the bucket. If a player picks a stick that says "KABOOM!", he or she returns all of their sticks to the bucket. Whoever has the most sticks at the end of the game is the winner.
  • Reflex
  • Counting Coins- Give students coins to count or give them an amount to make with coins.

ELA

  • Spelling words and reading passages that are sent home weekly.
  • Play Kaboom with the spelling words and have them read the word.
  • Practice writing and spelling the words correctly.
  • Reading Eggs
  • Read books at home and students can quiz at school. To check the reading level and quiz number of a book go to https://www.arbookfind.com/. Ask your student questions about the book. Ex: Who are the characters? What is the setting? What is the problem and solution?

Background Check: Background Check:

open_in_new zoom_out_map

For the second grade field trip we attend Science City in May. ANY ADULT attending must have a background check through the district. These background checks are good for as long as your student attends MC. If you got one last year, you are good! These background checks take a while to process so do not wait until last minute! I will attach the background check information below.
