IAR Testing
● Attend school on all days of testing, unless the child is ill.
● Arrive to school on time each morning, as we are testing first thing on some days.
● Get a good night’s sleep each night before testing.
● Eat a complete breakfast the mornings of testing at home or at school.
● Remind him/her to wear glasses if they have them.
● Help get them excited to show off what they know and put forth a solid effort.
● Ease any anxieties, as this is just a test and we are confident in their abilities.
● Write them a note of encouragement each morning.
As a school, we promote a fun and positive testing environment. This is the time for our students to show off everything they have been learning all year long.
Sincerely,
Gerrie Aulisa, Principal
Heidi Hummel, Assistant Principal

Erin's Law Presentation
Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. It is recommended that four communications a year on Erin’s Law be made available to all students, often through social-emotional instruction and/or contact with the school social worker.
Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author, and motivational speaker, will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
Safety rules at home and school
Saying “NO”
Safe/Unsafe Secrets
It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
Telling a trusted adult
Mr. Pacini and his colleague, Deanna Hynes, will be presenting at our schools on Monday, April 10. Each grade level will participate in an assembly for approximately 30 minutes. The content can be previewed here: https://www.victorpacini.com/peace-of-mind-2/
Requests to Opt-Out: If you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
