THE SCHOOL BELL
Williston School District / December 10, 2014
A Message from the Administration
I can’t believe we are nearing the end of 2014. It seems that every year goes by faster than the ever. I take this time to write about a few reminders that benefit you and the school.
Winter storms always provide a challenge for our buses. There are times that we need to shut down the hills due to ice. When this occurs, we will send a connect 5 phone call to those parents that are affected. Usually, the call will come around 6:30 am. When school is closed, check our web site, watch local news as the ticker runs closings early in the morning or call the school as we try to get an update on our answering machine.
It is our intent to stay open but safety of our children is first and foremost.
With winter comes cold temperatures and hopefully lots of snow. Please make sure your child comes to school with proper clothing. If the temperatures go below zero
we will have indoor recess. We do live in Vermont and kids need fresh air but zero is our limit. In addition to boots for recess, please be sure students have shoes to wear inside. Read more...

TAXES….DID YOU SAY TAXES?
You might ask why we are talking about taxes in the School Bell. Well here is why. Parents have an opportunity to make a tax deductible contribution to the Williston Annual Fund and we didn’t want December 31st to come and go without this little reminder. If you have not yet made your tax deductible contribution to the Annual Fund to pay for your child’s or children’s field trips, please do that ASAP by clicking HERE for the online option or HERE for access to a form to print out and send in to the House T.A. Any amount is appreciated to cover the cost of field trips. And a big thank you from FAP!!

Horizon students are learning about economics; needs, wants, goods, and services. Horizon will be putting on a bake sale on Tuesday, December 16th during all ABS lunches and after school. Hill Roads and Bus Pick up/Drop off
Road conditions in the winter can make hill roads difficult for school buses.

Health Office
Got Scoliosis? You're not alone!! www.CurvyGirlsScoliosis.com
Strep throat is a common type of sore throat in children, but it's not very common in adults. Healthcare professionals can do a quick test to determine if a sore throat is strep throat and decide if antibiotics are needed. Proper treatment can help you feel better faster and prevent spreading it to others!
People with strep throat should stay home from work, school, or daycare until they have taken antibiotics for at least 24 hours so they don't spread the infection to others.
