Thank-you to St. John XXIII Staff and Students
Special thanks to Principal Kristine Willis-Dengler, Assistant Principal Gail Greene and to the entire staff for their hospitality and making our Trustees feel at home. Thank-you to St. John XXIII students Julianna and Carter for leading the opening prayer and land acknowledgement.
On behalf of the EICS Board of Trustees, thank-you to the entire St. John XXIII community for making our Trustees feel welcome, and to allow them to be a part of the St. John XXIII school community for the day.
Presentations to the Board
Religious Education Consultant Andrea Haston led the Board in Faith Formation, introducing the EICS Division Theme for the 2022-2023 school year.
Better Together: "One Body on Christ", Romans 12:5 was selected as the theme for next year.
Trustees were reminded about the EICS Division Opening Day Mass which will take place on August 29th, 2022 at OLPH Parish in Sherwood Park.
School Fee Approval
EICS received 2 requests from schools looking to approve 2 additional fees for 2022/2023. Holy Spirit Catholic School requested approval to add a fee of $60.00 for swimming lessons for students in Grade 1-4, and St. Isidore Learning Centre requested approval for a school fee of $20.00 for software to proctor exams.
The Board moved to approve these additional school fees for 2022/23.

- Process of Naming the New High School in Camrose. An engagement process will begin in the Fall with stakeholders in the Camrose community to name the new high school.
Secretary Treasurer Report
Information was also shared regarding recent funding announcements from Alberta Education for Low Incidence Supports and Services, and Support for Mental Health, Specialized Assessments, Learning Loss and School Nutrition
Trustee Reports
Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA): Trustee Boisvert gave a verbal report regarding recent updates from ASBA.
Organizational Meeting
At the June 15, 2022 Organizational Board Meeting, Elk Island Catholic Separate School Division (EICS) Board of Trustees formally elected by acclamation Le-Ann Ewaskiw as Board Chair. Additionally, Ted Paszek was elected Vice Chair. Chair Ewaskiw and Vice Chair Paszek will lead the Board of Trustees for the 2022-2023 school year.
The Board of Trustees approved the standing committee structure board representations as decided at this organizational meeting for 2022-2023.
Board of Trustees approved the appointments for school council liaisons for the 2022-2023 school year.
Board of Trustees approved the Board Meeting Dates for 2022/2023.
Advocacy Meeting with Vegreville Mayor and Council
The Board of Trustees thanks Council for their productive conversations and hospitality and looks forward to continue to build a great working relationship with the community of Vegreville.
