The School Site Council (SSC) helps us approve our school budget and it supports our schoowide goals. We need 5 parents to participate, and we meet 4 times for the year. Our first meeting is this Thursday at 2:45pm at Rio Vista.

If you are the parent of a student who is classified as an English Language Learner, please fill out THIS FORM to help us support your student as much as possible.

Students will be allowed to wear a school-appropriate costume on Halloween. Please be sure that students do not bring any weapons or other implements. Also, no masks that cover the whole face are permissible.

Look below to see the minimum day bell Schedule which will take place this Friday, November 4th. For your planning purposes, this will also be our schedule on November 16th and 17th.

School Start Time- 7:50am

TK (*all students) - 7:30am to 11:30am

K-5th Dismissal- 12:45pm

We know our students make progress each and every day that they are with us at school. Unless they are sick, please make sure your student comes to school on time every day! Good attendance and good grades go together.

Remember that instruction begins at 7:50am. Supervision and free school breakfast are available starting at 7:25am, so we encourage you to plan your drop-off for between 7:30-7:40am each day.

Last week:

Average attendance rate - 90.0% (Goal is 98%)

Average daily tardies - 58 (Goal is less than 35); that is an improvement, THANK YOU!!

Our number one priority is the safety of all Rio Vista students and families. Please use the crosswalk in the front parking lot, and only load or unload students in the valet line.

Please do not walk in the wheelchair accessible area (marked by blue stripes) where we load students into the cars.

Also, please do not park along any red curb as that space needs to be available for emergency services in the case of an emergency. Please be courteous to our neighbors and do not park in front of anyone's driveway.

Make sure to remind your students to pay attention at the dismissal area. If we have to call them more than 3 times and they do not come to the loading zone, we will ask you to go back around in line and we'll try again.

Please consider making a $15 contribution to join our PTA. We always welcome your participation and volunteering, but that is NOT required to be a member of our PTA. My commitment to our community is that 100% of our teachers will also be contributing PTA members!

Every dollar Rio Vista receives from PTA dues goes directly to students in the form of field trips, supplies and materials for hands-on learning, and structural upgrades in classrooms such as new flexible seating furniture in the library and computer areas.

Have you made sure your student returned their Library Agreement? Students are able to check out books from the library regularly now, but only if the signed agreement has been returned. Ask your child's teacher if you are unsure.

One representative from our ELAC will attend the District support meetings this year. All of those dates are included HERE.

Please see the attached flyer for any student or parent who needs help accessing low cost dental care. The Buena Park Dental Clinic serves all low income students who have Medi-cal.

CARE SOLACE is a great resource for finding a practicing mental health professional in your location. PYLUSD families can take advantage of this service. Care Solace helps individuals who are insured or uninsured.
