Mental Health First Aid
CE Credits Available for Mental Health Training for School Nurses and Social Workers
WHAT IS YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
The numerous challenges of the uncertain COVID climate have increased stress and amplified the need for mental health support in schools. In response to this need, EatMoveGrow (EMG) is providing an evidenced-based mental health program, Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA).
YMHFA is a 6.5 hour training designed to assist school staff in supporting middle and high school students. Participants will gain knowledge and skills to help them identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health concerns. YMHFA is ideal for anyone who is a health resource for students. The training includes the impact of social media and bullying, identifying traumas, common signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse, how to interact with someone in crisis, and how to connect with the appropriate help needed.
